The school year is closing, but not Anime Club!

Thanks everyone for a successful year. Mr. Reamy was a great new moderator and we owe him a great thanks for taking our group under his moderation so we could still meet throughout the year. Hopefully he will moderate us next year as well. Despite the unsuccessful Smash Bros. Brawl tournament we tried to hold we learned what we can and can't do, and you learn from your mistakes, right? So here's to next school year, and let's try to make it the best one yet!

The next anime convention I am going to is Matsuricon. It is in Worthington, Ohio which is very vlose to Columbus, a.k.a. a 2-hour drive. It is from August 28-30th, and costs $35 for all 3 days, $20 for Friday, $25 for Saturday, and $15 for Sunday. I hope some of you can make it one of those days to chill with my family and Kim. For additional information, visit http://www.matsuricon.com/ .

Everyone have a good summer! If you have suggestions for next year, email me at ssjwiggy@fuse.net .

Well I finally got off my lazy butt and uploaded the Ohayocon 2009 pictures for all to see. As always, they are in the Convention Image Galleries link. This year's Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournament is also coming soon. It will definately be some time in April, so stay tuned for the finalized date.

Anime Punch trip

Yes, you heard my right! We are officially going to Anime Punch! We have enough drivers and we just need to get the word out. I sent out a Facebook invite to everyone in the BHS Anime Club group. Speaking of which, if you aren't in it yet, hit me up for an invite.

Anime Club website fix0rd

Chris-kun Posted by Chris-kun at 02:03 PM on February 10, 2009 Comments comments (0)

Ok, guys, I believe the website is fixed! Seemed to be an error on Freewebs' part. When I tried to update the blog, it said there was an error and they were notified and would try to repair it. Lo-and-behold, 5 seconds afterwards, the website loaded up fine and everything for me. If there are any more problems with it, email me at ssjwiggy@fuse.net . Also, I'll be posting pictures of Ohayocon 2009 soon, so everyone can see what awesome costumes there were smile

Thank you all for attending Sugoicon 08, and I hope you all had fun. The image gallery is up and running.

New calendar

Chris-kun Posted by Chris-kun at 11:58 AM on October 31, 2008 Comments comments (1)
I've had this feature up for about a month but never really informed anyone about it. I have posted a calendar link on the website that keeps track of when Anime Club is, so nobody gets confused. If you ever need to know any information about a convention or when a club meeting is scheduled, the calendar will have the information you seek. If you have any suggestions for how I can improve the website more, just email me. Thanks!

Welcome to Anime Club '08-'09

Chris-kun Posted by Chris-kun at 09:01 PM on September 30, 2008 Comments comments (0)
Welcome to this school year's Anime Club. For those of you that are new, Anime Club is all about watching anime, making friends, and having fun. Every meeting we discuss the latest happenings of the club, such as holding our yearly Guitar Hero tournaments, planning trips, or fundraisers. We also watch anime in club. Throughout the year, we attend two annual Anime Conventions: Sugoicon and Anime Punch. Anime Conventions are large gatherings of people that usually last a whole weekend and consist of a large vendor room that sells anime products, trivia, panels with famous voice actors, and video rooms where you can watch new anime you didn't know about or the classics. Anime Club always attends the Saturdays that the conventions are being held on, and typically they cost $25 to $30 to attend.

In a month, Sugoicon will be going on. The date is November 1st, and is marked on the calendar. As of right now, we have absolutely no drivers, so I need everyone to check with their parents to see if they can help transport club members. Sugoicon is located in Northern Kentucky and is about a 50 minute drive. Any and all help would be appreciated.

A special thanks...oh, and the new image gallery is LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!

Thanks a lot for everyone's support of this year's trip to Anime Punch. It was a lot of fun and was a great success. Special thanks to Mr. Neil Sackenheim for driving his large 10-person van down to the convention. I hope we'll have your support in the future for more of our trips.

Finally, I found the site I wanted to host all our convention pictures, and it happens to be Photobucket. I've already changed the page and I've got all the pictures up to date. Problem is, I need more pictures. I'll have my email listed in the that section of the site as well. If you have any pictures for any of our trips, please send to me. I'll upload anything that anyone has got. Enjoy the new galleries!

Anime Punch and...ugh, i just hate thinking about the next part...

Chris-kun Posted by Chris-kun at 07:37 PM on March 20, 2008 Comments comments (0)

Alrighty, good news and bad news. Here we go.

I am going to try to keep this site more up to date. UGH! Haha, I just mean I've been lazy and am gonna post all the information everyone needs once again. So, let's get started.

Due to popular demand, Anime Club meetings will once again be every 2 weeks until about 4:00 p.m. We are asking that members bring a snack to share to each meeting, may it be pocky, shrimp chips, wasabi peas, the kooala bear snacks, or anything of that nature. I will always be taking care of the drinks. Also, meetings are likely to become Wednesdays instead of Mondays, due to Mrs. Metz having many doctor appointments on Mondays.

Anime Punch, the best convention of the year that we attend, is approaching. Once again, it is in Columbus. Here's the info:

Registration: $25, both pre-reg and at the door. We will probably be registering at the door, but feel free to pre-register if you'd like.

Where:

The Crowne Plaza Columbus North
6500 Doubletree Avenus
Columbus, Ohio 43229 USA

Feel free to mapquest the address to see the distance and time it will take.

When: We will met at 8:30 a.m. at the McDonalds on High and MLK, as usual. We will leave at 9:00 a.m. for the convention. We will depart from the convention at 9:00 p.m. at the latest and meet back at the same McDonalds. Have a ride arranged at the McDonalds for when we return.

What is important: As usual, WE NEED DRIVERS! So, it is important that you ask your parents if they can drive us to and from the convention.

In May, we will be organizing a Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournament for all ages! We will need 2 copies of the games with all charcters and stages unlocked (I've already done so on my copy ^_^). Spread the word. It will most likely cost $5 per entry, like the Guitar Hero tournament. Just do your best to get the word out there.

I placed the order for our shirts today. David: you still owe me $6! Hehe. But anyway, I should have everyone's shirts by the next meeting, which I plan to have on April 2nd.

The last order of business...Mr. Gretz recently re-designed the Badin website, and didn't tell me that they scratched ALL THE IMAGES I HAD ON THEIR SERVER!! So, now I have to upload every picture again to a different website, while I will attempt to do when I get my cruddy computer back from the repair place. As for now, I'll remove all the broken gallery links and have it display a "Coming Soon..." message.

About the anime convention this Saturday

Chris-kun Posted by Chris-kun at 07:55 PM on November 14, 2007 Comments comments (0)

As everyone knows, Sugoicon is just around the corner (in a couple days, even!). So here's the details about the trip:

Time: We meet at the McDonald's at the corner of High St. and MLK at 8:30 a.m., and we leave at 9 a.m. sharp. My mom will drive our van, and my dad will drive the Badin van. We will be leaving Sugoicon at 9 p.m. My dad will drive the Badin van, and David's sister will drive down to help take us home.

Location: Like I said above, we will meet at the McDonald's at 8:30 a.m. When we get back to Hamilton, though, we will meet back at the same McDonald's. Please tell your parents/guardian to be at the McDonald's at around 10 p.m. so they can take you home when we arrive back. If you or your parents are curious as to where the location of the convention is, you can view the directions to the convention here:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&time=&date=&ttype=&saddr=20+S+Martin+Luther+King+Jr+Blvd,+Hamilton,+Butler,+Ohio+45011,+United+States&daddr=2477+Royal+Dr.,+Ft.+Mitchell,+KY+41017&sll=39.046553,-84.57726&sspn=0.004166,0.008605&ie=UTF8&cd=1&z=10&om=1

Cost: Just in case you didn't know, it costs $25 to register at the convention. Nobody pre-registered, so we will all have to wait in like at the gate to get our passes. You may dress up, or "cosplay", if you wish.

Other Important Information:
To the One Acts participants: My mom will be taking the One Acts participants to Badin at 4:30 p.m., so worry not about being late

To everyone: You MUST attend at least one panel, or my dad will no longer drive anime club to conventions, so make sure you plan ahead on a panel you wish to go to. Their length varies from 30 mins to an hour, so take a look at the list you receive at the convention.

If you have questions, give me at call at 382-8996, or send me an email at ssjwiggy@fuse.net.
