Baden-Powell Guild of Australia
[ A contributing member of the International Scout & Guide Fellowship - ISGF ] |

The Baden-Powell Guild of Australia is the National administrative governing body for the operation and activities of Baden-Powell Guilds throughout Australia. Each State have their own Branch, responsible to the Australian Body and, each in turn, provides guidance and oversight of Baden-Powell Guild Sub-Branches, (Town/Suburban Groups)within their jurisdiction. We observe the Aims and Principals of Scouting & Guiding, as put forward by our founder, Lord Robert Baden-Powell. We like to offer our assistance, by supplying our labour and skill resources, to help in the running of Adventure Camps & Events. We offer our resources for infrastructure building & improvements - Badge testing and many other small tasks, that require qualified personnel on a casual basis. We also enjoy helping the disadvantaged members of the movement. We raise funds, that can be directly used for helping Youth Members attend National & International events & many other purposes to the advantage of Youth Members. |

We like to have fun amongst our groups and people, with a social life, which varies according to the local Sub-Branch's capabilities and aspirations. We give service to both the Scout & Guide Movements and try to support our Movements in the best way possible. Informal International meetings were held from 1948 to 1950, and larger conferences in 1951 and 1952. In October, 1952 at a meeting in Lucerne, Switzerland, the International Fellowship of Former Scouts and Guides was inaugurated, and a provisional constitution was adopted (now known as the International Scout & Guide Fellowship [ISGF]. Eighteen countries became members initially - now some 59+. The constitution laid down where, in any one country there is more than one representative body of Former Scouts and/ or Guides, then only one federation of such representative bodies can be accepted. That is, the country is the unit of such membership, and the form of federation is left to each country to decide. In Australia, this body is known as AFOFSAG, or Australian Fellowship of Former Scouts & Guides. A healthy social life enjoyed by Sub-Branch members includes - Organised Trips away, Caravaning / Camping occassions, Expeditions into various (including remote) areas of the Country & many other activities. |
In Great Britain, almost as soon as the first generation of Boy Scouts had passed through their training, branches of Old Scouts started to be formed with limited membership. It was not until 1930 that efforts were made to organise these former Scouts as a reserve from which to draw assistance. The Scout Guild was formed in 1948, and the title Scout B-P Guild was given in 1955. Denmark brought together former Scouts and Guides as the St. George Guild in 1934. Informal International meetings were held from 1948 to 1950, and larger conferences in 1951 and 1952. In October, 1952 at a meeting in Lucerne, Switzerland, the International Fellowship of Former Scouts and Guides was inaugurated, and a provisional constitution was adopted. That is, the country is the unit of such membership, and the form of federation is left to each country to decide. The International Fellowship supports World Scouting and Guiding, and has made grants to both the World Bureaus to assist Scouting and Guiding in Third World countries. |

ISGF AISGHave people looked up the meaning of Fellowship lately? Do we understand what it means to be part of a Fellowship? Not just in our own local town but in the world we call home. I have been to a dinner with over 500 people who come from various backgrounds, cultures, gender, personal beliefs and localities. All in one room for an evening of celebration and singing Ging Gang Gooly as if we had all grown up together in the same house. Yet we actually grew up in two separate houses and many locations. The houses of Scouting and Guiding. Then something wonderful happened, we have seen the adults of these two youth fellowships combine to become the International Scout and Guide Fellowship. The vision of our forbears to create such a Fellowship and have differences and rivalries set aside for a harmonious Fellowship to assist young people in our world to develop has been a success. Over time we have taken our Scout and Guide Fellowship and offered it to new people and spread the warmth and joy of our family to those who require some understanding and assistance. On this day we call Fellowship Day, we can stand up, hold our heads high and repeat for all to hear, the promise we made many sunrises ago, as a young person or an adult and thank our creator for giving us the opportunity to be here today with the friends we have world wide and the friends we will have in our near future, just around the corner. ![]() Yours in Fellowship, Brett D Grant. ![]() JOTA 5 de Noviembre, 2008, 23:42: AGAE AISG-Andalucía Celebración día de la Amistad del pasado 18 y 19 Octubre
Friendship from the International Scout and Guia - Spain, Notebook Binnacle Scout 5 of November, 2008, 23:42: AGAE AISG-Andalucía. Andalucía Celebration day of 18th the 19th Friendship of the past and October. During the weekend of 18th and 19th of October we have celebrated in Granada the Day of the Scout Friendship with the participation of many scouts of Granada in 51ª Jamboree in the Air and 12º JOTI. The place where this activity has been developed lodged in addition a sample to uniforms, photographies, utensils and standards scouts yielded for the occasion by the Museum scout of Granada and that gave the opportunity to show part us of our history in this city. Although this is an activity summoned by the World-wide Association Scout, in Granada has taken the initiative from their organization the Adult Drug addiction, represented by AGAE AISG- Andalusia. For it we have we counted on aid disinterested of Association of Press in Granada, which it welcomed to us in its seat that is located in I magnify building of century XVI, where also is the Foundation Andalusian of the Press and her Museum. To this association that welcomed to us so splendidly and it yielded almost all the average ones to us to be able to make this activity, we must part to him of the achieved success. Two equipment formed:- One dedicated to the assembly of the audio-visual room and the exhibition scout, with the collaboration of Jose Ignacio Infante (Coordinating of Activities of the Scout Museum) and the participation of Immaculate Garci'a and Antonio Jesus Lillo (members of AGAE). - For the other equipment we counted on the disinterested collaboration of several old radio hams and scout, also AGAE partners: Antonio J. Goatherd (EA7YM), Daniel Martinez (EA7AAE), Jose Miguel Ruiz (EA7ETE) and like collaborating operators Antonio Garci'a and Virginia Ruiz. For the activity we asked for to the Main directorate of Telecommunications a special indicative A.M. -7 - S AG (Scouts Adultos Granada) and to be able to operate the different communications equipment. To first hour in the morning of Saturday we installed in terrao of the building a dipole of mark ICOM for the bands of 10.15.20 and 40 M.s in Onda Corta (HF) that we connected to an equipment of decamétricas marks to Kenwood TS-830 M and the rest of the line of he himself model. Because the expectations were ample, we did not want to leave nothing at random reason why we took advantage of the tools that offer the TIC to guarantee to us stable official notices to us, for which we used 2 computers with the application of free software denominated ECHOLINK, other 6 computers for the JOTI and 2 computers to be able to project videos on JOTA and AGAE, as well as the presentation in POWER POINT on the JOTA, made by the national organizer of the JOTA in Spain, Victor Ubeda (EA8HQ) of the Palms of Great Canary, that was a sweeping successful. This year we did not make a great amount of official notices or QSO, in the jargon of radio ham, but they emphasized in its quality and duration in the time, in special with the Scouts of the Canary Islands, the Scouts of Argentina and Peru, with which lots of numbers of members of the different Sections of the Scouts Groups of ASDE of Granada (Beavers, Lobatos, Troperos, Escultas, Rover, Scouters) and of old the Scouts who visited to us could maintain besides the seas. In this edition we contacted with stations of radio ham and scouts (radioscouting) of: Argentina, Canada, Australia, Austria, Portugal, Chile, Colombia, the USA, England, the Philippines, Mexico, South Africa, Norway, Switzerland (HB-9-S World-wide Office Scouts) and of several Spanish provinces (the Palms of Great Canary, Santander, Tarragona, Gerona, Zaragoza, Great Canary, Bilbao, Gijón, Murcia, Huesca, City Real and Granada). At the end of the Day we even had a visit of old scouts Norwegian that was of tourism by Granada and it remained enchanted with the small sample of the Scouts Museum, with a QSO or contact that scouts made with radio hams whose station was in the Island of Andoy (Norway) and, according to declared by him, with magnificent hospitality. From 1980 which I take organizing and participating in the Jamboree in the Air from Granada, it is possible to be said, that this year has been of most satisfactory than I have had due to all the factors that have come together in this edition, the organization of AGAE, the participation of the Scouts Groups of the Fénix and Poseidón, of the Association of the Press of Granada, of Antonio and Dani, of the collaborators Antoine and Virginia, of the visit of the Coordinator of the IAJ Doña Olga Manzano in which it had a little while of connection, of Incarnates Ximénez de Cisneros that has the responsibility to count those events that happen in our granadino surroundings in the Peephole of the Ideal of Granada. Jose Mi EA7ETE AGAE AISG-Andalusia STOP PRESS ...
