Good dogs with bad reps

The main dog I'm here to clear is the Pit Bull's

This is what compelled me to start this site.

The folowing is an editorial I did for school that lead me to building this site.

                             Pinning up the Pit Bulls:

Most people see a pit bull and they freak out. Why? Because of the bad reputation the pit bull has gathered over time. These dogs have gathered these reputations due to the fact that these dogs were bred for fighting. These dogs are bred to be aggresive. So what happens if one of these dogs gets loose on the street? They do what comes natural: they attack. The dogs shouldn't be punished for this their owners should. Read on to find out why.

These dogs shouldn't be the ones that suffer due to some humans stupidity to raise them improperly and treat them wrong. Many people think all these dogs are good for are to be blood thirsty killers. Well the fact is, that they aren't most are nice gentle creatures. Any dog can be vicious when trained to be. The CDC (Centers for Disease Control) quotes that "Breed-specific legislation does not address the fact that a dog of any breed can become dangerous when bred or trained to be aggressive." Which means that when passing a bill for restrictions on a certain breed of dog, legislation does not consider the fact that any dog can become dangerous when trained to be. The sad thing is that these are the main breed dog fighters choose to use due to two facts: 1.They have incredible jaw strength and 2. They can lock their jaw into place. So it makes since that most injuries are from pit bulls because they are trained to fight and be vicious beyond all reason and then they escape and cause harm to every living thing they can.

Another thing is that people fear things they do not understand. The same CDC webpage quotes that "Using a term like "Pit Bull-type" would indicate that any number of breeds(as there are 20+ that are mistaken as Pit Bulls) and mixed breeds could have been grouped under these accounts. If you don't believe me play a game I found on the very same sight called "Find the Pit Bull" just Click Here this will explain everything I'm trying to tell you. Plenty of dogs are mistaken as pit bulls and then the pit bulls are the ones getting a big fat restriction put on their heads.

I say we remove restrictions from pit bulls and look beyond what we see. I say we should pay more attention to owners and buyers of pit bulls. Step up restrictions on who can own a pit bull. If someone has had an animal cruelty charge or something along those lines we should watch them. We should refuse to give them the pit bulls because they, not the dogs, are the ones causing all the commotion. My aunt has a pit bull but imagine this its not a blood thirsty monster, I mean it gets a little rambunctious sometimes but even my dog (who is a boxer/labrador crossbreed) does that.

Look all I'm saying is simply this: we shouldn't just restrict something when we don't fully understand what we're doing. We need to go into deeper consideration when something this complex comes up. A pit bull is not a blood thirsty killer just because we have a mental image that they are. I think everyone should brush up on their amendments and then they would see that their is one that states that everyone deserves a right to a right to a fair trail and personaly I don't think the pit bulls have gotten their fair trial.
