Mommy was induced unsuccessfully on April 21st and again on April 30th. I was due to come on May 5th, but Mommies Dr thought the baby maybe very large at 40 weeks due to mommy gaining so much weight and also that she was measuring 3-4 weeks ahead for 3 months. Well, I just wasn't ready to come so I stayed in my nice warm home.
On Mothers Day mommy noticed a little wetness and went in to the hospital to see if her water broke. They did a test and said that it hadn't. Mommy went home and had a doctor appointment the next day at 8:00 am. The doctor had been out the previous week and said to mommy, "Your still pregnant?" The doctor did an exam and said that in-fact there was a small tear in the sack and she would like to break mommies water so I could come. I was now 1 week late. So the doctor sent mommy over to labor and delivery and they started Pitocine around 10 am and at noon the doctor came a broke mommies water. At the time mommies water was broke she was very posterior, 3 cm dilated, and still thick cervix around 30-50% effaced. At 3 pm they checked her and she was 5cm, 80-90% effaced, -2 station, and still very posterior. They check again at 8 pm and no change, again at 12am and no change. Labor had been pretty hard for the last 7 hours so she asked for an epidural.
Mommy was able to sleep after her epidural and woke up at 3:30 am with lots of pressure. She called the nurse and the nurse said that the pressure needed to be back side pressure not front side, but she would check mommy to see the progress. Guess what ... mommy was now at 8cm, 100% effaced and at station 0. The nurse said to call her when mommy felt something different. Mommy went back to sleep and woke up 20 minutes later with pressure in the back side. She called the nurse and the nurse checked her. She was now complete and ready to push. The nurse called the doctor and stopped the pitocine cause mommy was now progressing to fast. They had mommy turn to all fours and hold on to the top of the bed so that I would stop coming out so fast. The doctor came and things had stopped. The doctor had them start the pitocine again and they were to call her when I was ready to come out again. Mommies contractions started back up and she was ready to push. The nurse called the doctor back in and had mommy do three practice pushes so she would know what she was suppose to do. Then the doctor came in and 12 minutes later I was born. Mommy only pushed for 3 real pushes and I was out.
I didn't cry at first and that made mommy and daddy really worried, but the nurses took really good care of me and got my lungs working. It was a good 5-6 hours before mommy and daddy herd my cry. Mommy lost a lot of blood during labor and needed a lot of attention too.
We are both doing great now, with exception to lack of sleep and mommy not knowing what I fuss about some times. At night I like to keep mommy and daddy awake cause I don't want to sleep in my bassinet. They are working on this. Someday soon I will let them sleep. |
