[Mission One: Raider and Plots]

The EAS Galaxy has been charged with restoring the peace in the Proxima system and her outlaying Jump Gates. The Narn's have attempted to flood the system with refugee's who in turn are fleeing the warzone/s between them and the Centari. The Galaxy, following direct orders from President Clark and General Morgan, is to stop and force any Narn ship to return to there space. Also the Galaxy must locate and capture the Raider cruiser that has been attacking Earth Force transports. What will the crew of the Galaxy find? Will they complete there mission? Only time will tell....

Mission One Overview:

?Raiders and Plots?

The Proxima system has seen increased Raider activity and the local Government of Proxima 3 had begun to worry about traffic slowdowns die to attacks. Earth Force decided to bulk up there presence by sending in the newly refitted Omega class destroyer: EAS Galaxy.

Due to the refit, the bulk of the old Galaxy crew have been reassigned and hence the new crew are all either fresh recruits or officers who have been posted along the rim. The CO of the EAS Galaxy, Commander Jack Rally, is also a rookie commander and only time will tell if he could handle this brash new crew.

General Morgan, the local Earth Force commander, informed the crew of the Galaxy of the location of a Raider base located upon Rigel Three ? a small moon on the far reaches of the sector.

After two days of getting to know the command staff, the Galaxy sets off on her first mission. During the flight to Rigel Three the department heads were briefed on the upcoming operation, Lieutenant (jg) Fury the Galaxy?s Wing Commander, Lieutenant Prowler Alpha Company?s CO were informed that they would have to work together on the operation.

Kappa Wing would have to clear the space around the planet of fighters and then Alpha squadron, flying Thunderbolts, would have to attack the base and destroy its anti-air defences allowing Alpha Company?s shuttles the chance to land.

An hour away from Rigel Three the EAS Galaxy collected a Psi-Corps shuttle that contained the Galaxy?s new resident Telepath, Mrs Conway as well as a P10 Psi-Cop who informed Commander Rally that the Raiders on Rigel Three were using escaped Telepaths for assist there operations and it was his job to arrest the escaped Teeps.

However little did the crew of the Galaxy know that they had a traitor on bored who was leaking all the information on the operation to the Raiders. The crew of the Galaxy believed that the Raiders had a single cruiser and a wing of fighters to contend with.

However the Galaxy arrived at the planet to find no enemy craft. Kappa Wing was placed on Ready 5 alert while Alpha Company prepped in the hangar bay ready to assault the planet, Lieutenant Prowler giving a few last words to his men.

When everything seemed too quiet the traitor on the Galaxy sent a code and the raiders jumped in, one cruiser and three gunboats along with a wing of fighters attacked and disabled the EAS Galaxy?s engines prevented her from moving.

Kappa Wing was launched to defend the Galaxy. Lieutenant (jg) Fury split both Alpha and Beta squadrons in order to attack and defend the Galaxy. Ensign David Lockey, the CO of Beta squadron, began an attack against the gunboats, destroyed two and disabling one.

Alpha squadron, during this time, had disabled the Raider cruiser and taken out a large amount of the enemy fighter wing. With this it was believed they had achieved victory in the space battle.

However new jump points formed, more raiders jumped in this time a destroyer, cruiser and two wings of fighters. It was clear the Raiders wanted to capture the Galaxy. Knowing that they were running out of space to complete the mission, Commander Rally ordered the Marines to launch without cover and head to the planet.

Not liking the orders at all, Lieutenant (jg) Fury split Alpha up and ordered a few wing men to follow him in and protect the shuttles, which they did. However many Alpha squadron pilots died in this attempt, including a close friend of Fury?s and it remains to be seen if he can recover from knowing his orders killed many of his own Wing.

The Marines landed and Lieutenant Prowler, along with Mrs Conway and Warrant Officer Brightman both Psi-Corps personnel, began there attack on the Raider base. Many losses were taken but Lieutenant Prowler took control of the situation and managed to secure the command centre, the search for the escaped Telepaths began but during the process Mrs Conway went missing.

A new search broke out between Lieutenant Prowlers Marines and Warrant Officer Brightman to find the missing Conway, while in space the remainder of Alpha and Beta squads secured the remaining raider ships.

Conway was found and many Raiders were captured in order to be bought back to Earth Force for questioning. However the Galaxy had lost a large amount of its fighter pilots, and it remains to be seen if the mission proved to be the gains they needed as it came at such a high price.

Upon there return to Proxima 3, the crew of the Galaxy said goodbye to there dead and awards were given out to those who took action during this mission. Warrant Officer Brightman was promoted to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer while the other Galaxy crew members received medals and other awards for there actions.

The crew is now undergoing an R&R period, but the memories of this mission will remain with them for a long time.
