Mama Robin has finally finished her nest and now has three eggs in it. They are about the size of a golf ball, maybe a little bigger or smaller, and they are blue.
The pictures aren't so clear, but you can see an image of those eggs. This is inside of their nest in our front yard light.
This is one of those cute little babies that just came out of his egg! He hatched May 13, 2008. In this picture, he must have hatched at least an hour before I took the picture. He likes to lay on the other two eggs to help his mama with the warming of them!
This is the second cute little baby robin. He hatched May 14, 2008. His brother was really happy that he finally hatched out of that cooped up little egg. Now they sha'll wait for there other brother to arrive.
His new brother lays on top of him, for thanking him for keeping him warm. Now he makes his older brother just as warm as he was.
Will the last baby hatch? It's been three days since the first baby hatched. It should have hatched today. Hmmmmmm......will it make it?
Now they are acting like big birds now. They finally start begging for their mama and daddy to bring them their early morning food. I have a picture and a video of how they like to beg. You can hear me making clicking sounds to get their attention. They like that.He was asking me to feed him, but I told him that I can't because that's his mom's job to do that!
They just love that clicking sound I make!
I tapped the nest just on the side to wake them up a little.
This is the new nest. My family is thinking that one of the baby birds built it. They built it in our flower box hanging on the side of my house.
The first egg has finally arrived! It is a light blue, with a white spot on the front and one on the back. But what worries us is that the mom only comes back at night to sit on them. I feel it every day, and it is usually cold. This could be bad.
The day has come for mama bird to lay another egg again. This one is a little bit of a darker blue without the white spots on it.
The answer is probably a no. The reason why is because she usually lays them every 2 days. It has been about 4 days since she has layed any others.
It's been about 3 days since she has come back to her nest. But I went out there today and saw that both of the eggs are in different possitions. One is facing one way, and the other one is facing the opposite direction. I don't know if she is going to come back anytime soon or not. My mom said that we will see if she will come back tonight. If she doesn't, we might have 2 little egg funerals.
One of the eggs, well, accedently cracked. So I decided to disect it! Except it broke all over in my hand. So I buried it next to my house. I found out that If the mom would have stayed a little longer, or if I would have kept it a little warmer, it would have survived. I examened it and saw that cute little bird, developing inside. It was small, about the size of a pinkey nail, and it was yellow. The yolk was right next to it. But the weird thing is, it didn't smell when it got cracked! Don't eggs smell if their rotten like this one if their cracked?
