With an influx of new construction, restoration and land reclaimation in the Denali River, St Albans and Highbridge University region, there has been a steady increase in population, as well as a distinct architectural base for the region.
With the passing of the forerunner of the Denali architectural community, Danny Forster, there seemed to be a void for a short time as the region came to grips with the loss. However, in the recent years, due to the requirement of more urban housing in the area, the latest influx has brought several Architectural Visionaries to town.
In this edition, we shall be examining the work and social life of the latest big name to hit town, Jackson Smith. Rough on the outside, with a certain amount of charm and sensualness on the inside, this young visionary expresses his heart through his work. This Saint Grenadine native grew up in the tropical sun, working in several bars to support his way through college. The youngest of 3 children, this island boy grew up in the best of both worlds. Being able to travel with his father to the Denali River region on business many times throughout his childhood, this young man came to the realisation that, while he could make the most out of his life on the tropical island surrounded by beautiful people and tangerine coloured tourists, he needed to make the ultimate move to where his passion could be realised. After graduating from college with honours, Jackson's first major challenge began shortly after a large tropical storm devestated the small island of Saint Grenadine. While the bulk of the population was safely evacuated from the island, or moved to higher ground, the fierce destruction of the storm certainly took its toll on his home. With only a small amount of homes remaining on the island, together with the reconstruction of Princess Annabella International Airport and the restoration of several of the large hotels, Jackson was able to assist in the reconstruction of his home, while still maintaining his home and business in Denali River. Jackson's first task back on the island was to see the reconstruction of the residential area in Subic Bay. Previously frequented by a smattering of rich retiree's, affluent locals as well as the obligatory vacationers, the area was a bustling hive of activity before the storm. In order to restore the island character of the island before the big-box developers moved in, Jackson's company set forth in reconstruction of important waterfront properties.
The history of Saint Grenadine provides a perfect example of the architectural styles exhibited through the islands history. First colonised by German, French and Dutch Sim settlers in the early 1800's, the island was an important trading outpost in the island region. Following the eruption of Mt Kinahasa, the original German and Dutch settlements on the Northern Regions were devestated. Due to the violent nature and prospect of pyroclastic flows from future eruptions, all remaining residents were relocated to the southern side of the island. Due to a safer, more natural harbour, the population and trading prospects began to flourish. With the switch from sea-based aircraft movements, a major reclaimation scheme was tasked through throughout the 1950's and 60's to construct an airport suitable for the influx of international tourists.
-The editor.
From our previous article, we were introduced to one of the musical prodigy's of Denali River, Mackenzie Forster. After successfully making it through an intensive program at Highbridge University with her two brothers, she finally moved back to town. It didn't take her long to realise her own drummer, Markus Silverman had been secretly crushing after her for quite some time.
Mackenzie had always thought of Markus as a good friend, and when the secret came out after one jam session, the duo was pleasantly surprised of their mutual feelings.
After a short period of dating, the relationship quickly escalated when the couple purchased their first house together. Located within the heart of Denali River, their new home reflected the couples taste in classical and art deco furniture.
Despite the property having been built in the 1930's, the interior reflects a more modern lifestyle, 3 spacious bedrooms, each with an en suite, a formal sitting room, where Mackenzie's Bosenklavier Model B is located along with a spacious living area containing the heart of every house, the kitchen. Reflecting the need for Denali River's citizens to keep themselves toasty warm all year round, the property also includes central heating throughout, along with large windows for capturing those precious rays.
As the couple finally settled down into their new life together, they were soon joined by the pitter-patter of 6 little feet. Don't worry, she didn't have multiples. 4 of the feet belonging to their precious cat, Spot. However, the summer saw the edition of the couples first child, Emma Silverman.
A gifted toddler with a keen interest in Science, we can only imagine what kind of green creatures she will get her hands on in the future. In addition to Emma, Mackenzie is set to go into labour any time now and we wish her the best of luck in the birth of their newest addition to the family.
Another glimpse into the lives of Denali River's residents. This time, we will intoduce you to the Forster family. Consisting of Danny and Chris Forster, the couple met one their enrollment day at Highbridge University. Completing a degree in Business, Danny has worked his way up the career ladder, realising his dream of being a world class Architect. Since reaching his goal, he continued to expand his career horizons, becoming the head City Planner for the region.
Chris on the other hand, had a bit more of a colourful career history. Originally enrolling in a Physics degree, he eventually came to the realisation that Science was not for him. He finally made the switch to History and graduated with honours. After starting a brief career in Science, after the honeymoon, he decided he would continue with his passion of History and Art, leading him to becoming one of Denali River's finest artists.
After extensive travel of the globe, the couple finally settled down and started a family. Beginning with the adoption of Jared, the couple enjoyed the pitter-patter of little feet within the home. Thanks to breakthroughs in Reproductive Technology, and research from Alien pregnancies in other areas of the planet, they decided to take the plunge, attempting the expeirmental treatment for themselves. This subsequently led to Danny giving birth to two more children, Mackenzie (Mack) and the youngest of them all, Tyler.
An introduction of the children should give you a little insight into the family life of this busy family. Firstly, we have Tyler. Madly interested in sports, you will usually find him either shooting hoops in the backyard, playing soccer with his friends, or even catching the game on the TV in his bedroom. Being the youngest of the family, he still has a while to go before beginning his college life. However, despite the fact he wants to continue his education, his main goal in life is to become a high profile sports player. When not engaged in sports, or his studies, he also spends a lot of time playing Games on his computer. His decorating style would be considered messy at best. Scattered around his room above the garage, is his various sporting goods, including hockey sticks, football helments, balls, as well as some of the trophies he's picked up along the way.
Next up we have the Musical Prodigy of the family, Mack. Being the middle child would normally equate to being the odd one out. This isn't the case with this well adjusted young lady. Not interested in flirting with everything with a Y chromasome in a 6 mile radius, she, like Ty, spends most of her time focussed on her passion. Music is her way of life. From the moment she wakes up in the morning, she made her way over to either her piano, or violin. When not attached to an instrument, she can usually be found Bustin' a move in front of one of the many stereos located around the house. Being officially recognised for her musical talent, Mack is set for life in her career choice. She also loves an old-school way of life, weather it be her choice in 1950's inspired clothing, to her 1970's choice in interior design, she definitely has a unique life.
Finally, we have the oldest. This is Jared. He's loves nature, but don't worry guys, he's not a naturist, nor does he like wind chimes or aspire to change his name to Ocean. Being the adopted and oldest of the Forster children, he's been living the high life in his amazing bedroom. Spending his free time catching bugs, hiking through the wilderness of Denali River and even carefully protecting the orchard trees in the backyard, he considers his life to be a fun and thrilling life.
His decorating style pretty much focusses on the wonders of the surrounding countryside. Nature is his life. After finally getting accepted into a Biology degree program at City College, he finally made the move. To his surprise, one of the apartment buildings Danny had designed and renovated was to be his new home. This was a complete shock to him, as he was expecting to either share an apartment with someone he didn't know or like, or worse, living directly in a shoebox sized dorm room. Luckily for him, while the building for the mostpart functions as a dorm building, the ground floor has a seperate entrance for his pad, with its own garage and backyard. Being in the Northern district of the City however, dirt, grime and graffiti from the areas previous industrial heritage is still showing through. As City College continues to expand however, the area is becoming a mix of Bohemian apartments, modern apartment and office buildings as well as other forms of Gentrification. Wedged between the School of Business to the left, and the currently incomplete New School of Law, the apartment building brings an interesting mix, along with some much sought after privacy in the bustling Metropolis that City College is surrounded by.
To get a lay of the land City College resides in, it is best viewed from a helicopter flight, which can be chartered from the Downtown heliport.
Enjoy your new life Jared,I bet you can't wait to hang out with Mackenzie and Tyler again. So once again, thanks for stopping by. In our next edition we will be exploring the interior design of Denali River's number one family, The Forsters.
