How we began... Anona was raised in Thornton, Colorado and Albert was born and raised in Catonsville, Maryland. We met in Colorado June of 1993, and married October of 1994 in Cattlesburg, Kentucky. The place we became hitched is called The Wedding Chapel and it is the same place that Billy Ray Cyrus married his wife! How cool is that? And yes, we have danced at the same country western bar that Billy Ray Cyrus was discovered AND shot the video, Acky Breaky Heart. June 3rd, 2004 we purchased our property in Romney, WV. We are nestled between Winchester, VA (33 miles) and Keyser, WV (17 miles) on Route 50; and south of Cumberland MD (30 miles) on Route 28. Our farm rests in the South Branch Potomac valley on 47 acres of wooded rolling hills. We have cleared most of the trees and currently in the process of planting pastures and deciding on the location of our first barn. Reshaping the landscape has proven to be an expensive endeavor so our attention switched to employing goats to help complete the tasks ahead of us. We decided to purchase 2 two month old boer-kiko cross doe goats and of course we couldn't help falling in love with their personalities. (First love, don't you love it!!??) It was amazing to witness how quickly these two goats cleared the "junk" brush (rasberries, briars, small tree shoots, etc.) Grass is now growing where once there was a deep, old forest with trees so thick light couldn't penetrate through the leaves and a person could remain relatively dry standing under the leaf canopy during the worst rain storms. Our alpacas are currently boarded at our friends' farm in Hyndman, PA. We can't wait for the day our fields are blessed with grazing alpacas! |
