The scientific name for the dolphin is Tursiops truncatos. Most of the oceanic dolphins spend their lives ranging over vast areas of the open sea. Dolphins use whistle like sounds to alert and communicate with the other dolphins. Dolphins are very smart creatures and they learn very quickly. The whales and dolphins are the most intelligent sea animals, they belong to the group of the toothed whales whose scientific name is odontocetes. Dolphin species : The Bottlenose, Spinner, Pacific White Sided, Pusky, Rough Tooted, Hourglass, Fraser, Risso, Vanquita, Beiji, Northern Right Whale, Beluga, Dall's Porpoi. Dolphins don't have good eyes and need their echolocation to navigate. The normal life span for a dolphins would have to be aroubd 25-50 years. All cetaceans including the bottlenose dolphins, are protected from hunting by strict laws. Dolphins live arround the globe from colder northern and southern waters to warm tropical waters.
