TRAINING!!!!!!!
FULL PRE SEASON TRAINING 7pm start, Training will be at MANNOR ROAD SPORTS GROUND, . Can we point out that training is open to everyone, 1`s, 2`s 3`s and anyone else, so anyone at all thats wants to train is welcome, 1st and 2nd team players it is essential that you make it to the first few sessions unless exceptional circumstances. There are several changes this season that we need to all work on and move the squad forward together. Please try and get there. The only way we can move forward is by numbers making the effort. This year we have to pay for the facillities, it costs £20 a week, so can people bring cash with them. We will count all money paid by players for the ground and knock it off their annuals for the present. |

ANNUAL DINNER
An excellent evening of fun, frivolity and excessive boozing was had by one and all. Big thanks to Richard & Lisanne Annis for arranging it all; to the team captains, Neil Weston, Snake & Duncan, for their excellent speeches (and to Huw for his little bizarre speech to Jo); to all those who recieved awards on the night (all thoroughly deserved, I might add!!); and to all the players and their partners for making it another sucessful night for The Mighty Ath.

Scraptoft Sevens 03 - 04
Well the final bout of competitive rugby for the 2003-04 season saw us place a team into the Scraptoft Sevens, held this year at Oadby Wyggestonians ground.....to read more, click here --> http://www.fostercorley.co.uk/Scraptoft_Sevens.htm
4th Team
WE DID IT!! Sat Feb 5th the mighty Ath put out 4 teams, are we now the biggest small club in the county??? Sat 5th feb saw the record broken (well as far as anyone can go back, including Richard Annis!!). Alas due to the player numbers we had we were unable to find opposition for them to play. This didn`t stop us from success, so we played interclub, Reds v Blues. Now lets see ifwe can get them out a few more times this season. If you are in contact with any old players, or ones that turn out only once or twice a year, give then grief and make sure one of those turn outs is for us!! Also anyone who keeps saying they`d love a game one day, they`ll do too!! |

Pre Season BBQ
Well as were all gonna be meeting up together for the 1st game of the season at home on the 20th Aug it seemed sensible to make that also th edate of the 1st social of the year, the infamous pre season BBQ. All welcome at the OLD HORSE after the game, further details to follow
Annual Golf Day - the 2nd chapter 13th Aug
Were you part of it....??? If not, you can this year. Its back by popular demand, well at least 5 people anyway. Date to be announced soon, so start getting the practice in, needless to say most of us need it. Lets hope the bandit pair of Edwards senior and Edwards very senior dont walk away with it again (needless top say with the handicap i give them this year they prob wont ha ha ha). Also can anyone beat Elliot in best gross score?? I`m sure we can if we steal his clubs, or hawkeye Daz Watson in the nearest the pin (i wont say anything here as he`s bigger and harder than most of us)
Futher details and price to follow with date confirmation. Please txt or call Weston to state your intent to play and handicap ASAP to get things moving.
Summer Pairs Knock-out Match Play
Summer pairs matchplay knockout. Ok obviously need to be a pair of players. Knockout comp through summer, each round will have 2 weeks to be played in, location and time to be organised by the 2 competing pairs. Played in matchplay format with half handicap differences as allowances to be reduced down so lowest handicap is effectivly scratch.(max handicap of 24, so if your handicap is higher, for match play purposes its 24, cause even some of you bandidts will hit par`s so your not gettin lots of shots!!) E.g. Pair one has players handicap of (A)16 and (B)20, pair 2 has (C)18 and (D)26.So player (A)16 is effectivly scratch, his partner (B) has handicap then of 4, the other pair has handicaps of (C)2 and (D)10. they are then halved so partner has new handicap of 2, so gets one shot on hole`s indexed 1 & 2, Then (C) has new handicap of 1, so just one shot on stroke index 1. (D) new handicap of 5 so gets a shot on stroke index holes 1 to 5.
Onus is on the above pair in the draw to contact their opponents and arrange the match
If you wish to enter in this let Weston know (txt or call)with your pairing and handicap VERY ASAP as need to get the draw done and 1st round played. If you want to play but are not in a pair just let me know and i`ll just pair up single players into teams.
Pairs Format and draw link
Anyone for cricket???
Following a few enquiries thought we`d put the feelers out, if there`s anyone interested in getting a team together to play in the off seasonpass the word back to the captains and lets see what we can manage. Also if there is anyone who has any contacts re a pitch we could use or anyone who knows of opposition or kit, this may be usefull too.
