Obituaries
We in no means look at our old players as being dead to us and we hope that all of them remain very much alive and well. But seriously, here are there obituaries....
Anne Scholle
#6 "Annechovy"Angelina Scholle? That's right. Despite her lack of ability to pronounce English words correctly (Edinburgh as "Edinburf"), Anne was a fantastic asset to our team in the 2007/2008 season. After discovering what a passport was, this American travelled over from Americaville to study during her semester abroad. Anne made a strong impact on the team using both her charm (just ask Palmer. Or Paul.) and fantastic frisbee skills.
Unfortunately though, the relationship had to end as Anne left to go back to the land of the obese. This saddened us greatly, and look forward to her $500 return-ticket vists.
Luke Walker
#6 "SkyWalker"Luke took to ultimate like a duck to water (or akin to himself to two collars and flip flops) and by nationals was one of the clubs most trusted handlers. Unfortunately he did not enjoy the life of a student, rarely working and spending too much time having fun, Luke is leaving us after just one year for a job in the real world*. A massive blow to those he knew at UEA, particularly the Hive, whose Coffee and Cake sales have dropped monumentally.
Fear not however for we have not seen the last of Post grad, who has promised to return for some of the socials and is always welcome to join at any open tournaments.
*Something to do with a Stargate/Ryan Reynolds film
Tom Schnetler
#? "Schnetler"Tom too returned from a year out in Australia, and provided the feminine aspect of Mega and Tom’s ‘His and Hers’ pairing.
When not surfing or insulting people (mainly Alice) Tom could be found playing some very good Ultimate indeed.
Chris Davies
#? "Megatron"Chris, a.k.a Megatron, returned to Aye-Aye for his final year having spent a year in the states, and it showed.
Mega won the best personailty award in both the 05/06 and 07/08 season. He accepted the awards modestly without making a scene.
Nicki Higgins
#20 "Cpt. Birds-Aye"Nicki is also an ex-GB Junior Woman who raced up the ranks to woman's captain for the last year. She is especially fond of indoor ultimate but can be found at both Aye-Aye and Mustard's practises. Nicki has been an inspirational captain and lead Birds-Aye to an amazing 7th place at regionals.
Nicki is also the queen of powerful backhands, beware!
Jamie Kingsbury-Smith
#14 "JKS"Once you've stopped looking at how amazingly small Jamie's feet are, you probably wouldn't of noticed that he had already covered the length of the pitch and scored over you. Jamie is a good stack player and has fantastic cuts.
Beware. When he drinks he will run up to you and do his trademark silent scream. This is some very scary stuff to behold.
Joe Pennington
#44 "Internet Joe"Joe seems to have had problems ever since forever with his ankle. This doesn't deter his club spirit though, and Joe is always a regular to most practices, even if it is just on the sidelines. Joe is well known for falling over when drunk, and I don't mean tripping. He literally falls flat on his face for no reason.
Joe is a regular at Big Wednesday and he's well known to initiate a Big Friday, Monday, Thursday or even Sunday. You'll recognise Joe, he's the one with half his snakebite on his shirt.
Rosie Kermode
#11 "Rosie"Rosie, although rarely at practise, can always be relied upon to turn up for tournaments. Having studied a five year medic course, toward the end of her Aye-Aye career she had sparing little time for Ultimate, but this was not always the case. In her 2nd year she was women's captain and was also awarded Best Female for Aye-Aye that same year.
Rosie is one of the quickest Birds-Aye members, with a good knowledge of the game, making her a dangerous opponent.
Will Jones
#9 "Jonesy"When Will comes to practice, he plays very well. Most of the time, Will is doing whatever he can to not spend money. This is usually because he has absolutely none. We could point out to him that he would have more if he didn't go snowboarding at every available opportunity. That or spending it on a moped to drive to Italy. At least he makes better choices on the field.
When there's a bit of wind and someone has whacked the old zone out, Will likes to do nothing better then look off other players so he can hammer it up field.
Shane Holehouse
#5 "Shame"No one understands this boy's accent. It just doesn't make sense. When Shane isn't found in the UEA Square or Union Pub attempting to complete a crossword with a substantial amount of help, he can be found gracing the Colney lane pitches graciously jumping all 6 foot plus of him into the air only to drop that sweet, sweet disc.
Shane is a well spirited and talented player with those essential skills of being American.
Lindsey Jones
#73 "Jones"Lindsey is a skilled frisbee player and is a very competetive soul. This does get in the way of his social intelligence though and often means that he comes across as being quite rude. As well as being the vainest Aye-Aye (constantly trying to improve his looks courtesy of marker pens), Lindsey is also a lover of the flying vermin that are pigeons, to which, he bears an uncanny resemblance.
Lindsey has played for Great Britain Juniors in the States and is looking to choose a Postgraduate Degree by how good the institution's Frisbee team is. Aye-Aye just isn't big enough for this player.
Richard Rigby
#50 "Riggers"Often referred to as "smouldering" by some, "vacant" by others, Rigby is a character and ten percent. Being one of the tallest Aye-Aye's, it is somewhat touching that he's friends with Kumy. Rigby is known for his layouts and aggressive style on the field. He goes through a set of knee pads at least every month. Rich also plays with Brighton Ultimate during the summer as long as there are no factors that may give him the slightest opportunity not to attend. He struggles to down a pint and has a comical walk.
Having now departed Aye-Aye Richard will be chasing stardom with his band Hold Fire - check ‘em!.
Kumaran Vellupillai
#18 "Vellupillai"Kumy is the shortest Aye-Aye and consistently puts in 60% effort at all levels of Frisbee, 100% of the time. When not found eating, Kumy is generally sleeping or finding his way into UEA gigs for free. Alongside 07/08 graduate Luke Walker, the pair could often be found reading wordy papers and enjoying sushi.
Also known for his very rare, very aggressive drunken exploits. We normally do not let this boy touch the tipple!
Timir Kemp
#7 "Eat It."This member has probably had the worst luck when it comes to starting a new sport. Unfortunately Tim was injured for most of his first year and a half at the club. He has started playing recently though and is showing a lot of potential, already surpassing Chris Frazer in every aspect of the game. This is somewhat retribution as Frazer was the one who originally sought out to injure the innocent Tim during a chuck around. Frazer also tried to get them both naked in Cardiff. Tim was the Social Secretary in his second year and probably organised the best socials the club has ever had (and will have). He was also Club President in the 07/08 season. As well as being modest, he also plays with Brighton Ultimate during the summer.
"Eat It" refers to his drinking technique and must not be mistaken for food. Although he is rather good at that as well.
Tim wrote his own biography.
Chris Frazer
#01 "Frazer"Probably the biggest lad in the club’s history and a major force within Aye-Aye, Frazer is committed to the club both on and off the field. On the field, a competitive, powerful all-round player justifying his position as Vice-Captain of the club, and off the field, a strong beverager sure to bring his own brand of 'Beef' to a night out. On occasions, this brand of 'Beef' has spilled over into rowdiness and general unruliness, which is always a sight to behold.
Frazer, along with the majority of departing Aye-Aye’s will now be playing his Ultimate with Cobra Kai, of which he will be club captain.
James Jagger
#0 "JimJimJimJim"Whilst the majority of us can’t quite believe his 5 year tenure at UEA has come to an end, 07/08’s club captain is riding off into the sunset in his motorbike and sidecar.
Jim is a reliable player who is extremely well spirited, even if it does mean letting the other team win.
Jim also regularly plays with Norwich Mustard and once scored a 'greatest' at the Aye-Aye Open. In respect to Jims departure and five year commitment to the club, his club number 0 has been retired.
Paul Hearmon
#77 "Shitbreak"Known for his bad chat-up lines, last years President Paul spends the majority of his time trying to pull girls. Fortunately for the female gender, Paul (a.k.a 'Shitbreak') has now graduated, but be sure that when he returns he will be on the look out for fresh Frisbee bait, especially if you have already pulled Miller.
Paul tends to 'hog' the end zone, and was the self-confessed glory-boy of the team in 06/07. As well as struggling with his up field passes, Paul is a bit of a 'chav' and loves to sport England merchandise and excessive Bling.
Having said all of this, the club will be all the poorer for his departure, and in his final year he won, surprisingly, 'Most Spirited Player' at the Aye-Awards.
William Olive
#33 "Curly"Never has a committed member disassociated themselves from the club so quickly. Especially as it was during the middle of the academic year.
Curly was a very temperemental player and would often get angry with himself and others around him. This doesn't really come as a surprise though considering how awfully he could play.
Curly also got himself butt naked at Loughborough Freshers tournament in 2006.
Sam Davison Jenkins
#56 "Old Man Sam"Could two apples fall this far apart from their sacred tree?
Sam is the complete opposite to Dan in pretty much everyway. A previous Aye-Aye Captain and fantastic frisbee player with disc skills to boot. Sam aided the club to get to their first ever Outdoor National Tournament
Sam is also a treat when it comes to socialising, and the icing on the cake? He smokes too. Heavenly. Whatever happened with Daniel?
