WELCOME TO AVRIL LAVIGNE: UNDER MY SKIN BIO:
Avril Ramona Lavigne was born on September 27th, 1984 in Napenee, Ontario, Canada. She started singing and playing guitar when she was just 2-years-old! She writes her own songs, wears what she likes, and plays hockey with the boys. She's the hottest thing in rock music! Avril Rocks! Her debut album, "Let Go" (hit stores in early '02) is the hottest cd ever! With a guitar-driven single, "Complicated", and a rowdy-rough single, "sk8er boi", both will have fans stop and listen! There isn't a teen magazine that doesn't have her face on it! Now her second album (Under My Skin), that was released on May 25th of this year, is just a pickup from her last cd. Its sounds like her first cd was ripped right out of her diary, but this album is more about things that she went through recently.
Although Jesse (Avril's guitar player) left the band, she has found and front seat driver, Ben Moody, a former Evanesence guitarist. "I miss Jesse and will always have open arms for him to come back."_Avril
How she found fame...
Avril Lavigne is not your typical teenager. Not only has she been flying around the world, promoting her debut album "Let Go" {at press time, she was about to do a show in Madrid, Spain}, but during the course of writing her album, she ended up in New York, in her own apartment, at the age of 16. Despite her independence, Avril hates that she turned 19 recently. "I really didn't like it", she says. "I don't want to be considered an official grown-up." But growing up quickly is what's happening to Avril.
Life as A solo artist...
Avril remembers when she first left her home in Canada to pursue her music career. "I stayed in New York for six months. I had my own apartment", she says. "Then I left for L.A. to finish my album. And there, I stayed in a hotel". In New York, Avril was excited. "It was so great! That was when life began. For real. I was shouting for joy... then I realized I was going to have to cook, wash my clothes, and clean. But the first night I had trouble sleeping, I was so excited. I felt like I could do whatever I wanted. I couldn't beileve it. I was free!" Her parents were supportive, but concerned. "Knowing that I was on my own in New York worried them a little bit. But they knew this was what I had to do." She wrote most of her album while in the city. Following her dream was always important. "I began to write at the age of 12. I worked on writing." Her restless spirit fuels her music. "I have alot of energy. I need to keep moving all the time. When I make music, it calms me down." And her music is making people all around the world stop and listen. But Avril insists that she's still a child. "I don't feel like a woman yet. I have plenty of time for that. We'll see what kind of woman I become." For now, Avril says, "I'm anxious to stay a teenager. It's the best. You can do stupid things and still be forgiven, because you're still a kid!"
