A Voice for GAP Kids

    You might be a Gap Kid if:

    • your Schedule Verification Letter is mailed to you blank .
    • your guidance counselor refuses to enroll you in any courses until the week before school starts.
    • the courses you enrolled in have no course number.
    • the words Concept or Functional in the course title.
    • the courses you are enrolled in are not found in the "Program of Studies".
    • No teacher is assigned to teach the course you are enrolled in.
    • the teacher does not give you a course syllabus for the course at the beginning of the year.
    • You are not assigned any books for the course.
    • you are told you do not have to take any exams (so you can stay home) during the scheduled exams
    • your grades (in high school) on the report card are all S’s when general education students have numerical grades.
    • you are absent from school for over 3 days and have no work to make up.
    • your final report card reads " Promoted" but you are still in the same grade.
    • you have been in the ninth grade for over 2 years.
    • your transcripts show that you only have 3 elective credits and you have been in high school for 4 years.
    • you are still receiving information in the mail about senior class photos and class rings from a high school you have not attended in years.
