A Chapter of the International Organization of Women Pilots

Welcome to the Antelope Valley 99s.

The Ninety-Nines, Inc., is the world's largest and oldest organization of licensed women pilots. We are a non-profit organization with over 6,500 members worldwide in 35 countries. The membership is organized into sections, and then into local area chapters.

The Antelope Valley (CA) Chapter (Charter Date: September 20, 1988) is an exciting chapter with 36 members. The diverse membership includes a commercial airline pilot, an astronaut who served as pilot on pilot on STS-92 (October 2000) and STS-112 (October 2002), military pilot, glider pilots, helicopter pilot, several women who have raced, flight test engineers, others who work for NASA, and a former WASP. Chapter members hangar their airplane or fly out of Fox Field (Lancaster), Rosamond Skypark, Mojave, California City, Lone Pine, Woodlake, and Inyokern airports. Chapter meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month, with the exception of July and August. The Antelope Valley Chapter has established a scholarship and mentoring program for local Future Women Pilots. The chapter also gives a small scholarship each year for a local junior college aviation student.

The Antelope Valley, home to Edwards Air Force Base, NASA Dryden Flight Research Center, and many general aviation airports, is a dynamic aviation environment steeped in history. Many aviation firsts have happened in our own "backyard", includng breaking the sound barrier (1947), the first space shuttle landings (1981), and Voyager's nonstop around-the-world flight (1986). Excellent weather and wide-open spaces make the Antelope Valley a great place to fly.
