The National Automobile Dealers Association, founded in 1917, represents more than 19,700 new car and truck dealers, both domestic and international, with more than 43,000 separate franchises.

Membership is open to any new-automobile or new-truck dealership holding a new automobile or truck sales and service franchise.

NADA's offices are located at 8400 Westpark Drive in McLean, VA 22102.

1917: NADA is launched from successful dealer effort to cut vehicle luxury tax from 5 percent to 3 percent. Government Relations

Government Relations represents new-car and truck dealer interests before the U. S. Congress, including a wide range of business, trade, energy and environmental issues that could impact the success of their businesses and the security of the more than 1 million people they employ.

Industry Affairs

Industry Affairs addresses all major issues affecting dealer/manufacturer relations. Industry Relations promotes communication between manufacturers and member dealers via franchise-specific meetings and NADA’s exclusive biannual dealer attitude survey. The Industry Analysis department conducts economic and industry analyses for internal and external use. Search for new and used car dealers across the country.

Legal Affairs

Legal Affairs represents the interest of dealers in the legal, federal regulatory and franchise arenas. This involves the monitoring and analysis of federal administrative activities, the formation of NADA policies on these matters and the preparation of guides and bulletins to assist dealers in complying with federal requirements. The group analyzes dealer franchise agreements and manufacturer policies, maintains a state franchise law reporting program and assists ATAEs and dealers on franchise and state law matters. In addition, the group performs corporate legal work for NADA and its affiliated entities and is responsible for the NADA Legal Defense Fund.

Public Affairs

Public Affairs is responsible for media and public relations, marketing and communications, both print and online. Public Affairs publishes the award-winning AutoExec magazine, as well as a number of newsletters, including NADA Weekly, Legislative Update, Washington Insider, and Regulatory Review. Electronic publications include NADA Headlines, a daily summary of top industry news e-mailed directly to members, as well as www. Dealership Operations

Dealership Operations provides services and training programs to help member dealers improve their business operations and bottom-line performance. The Dealer Academy trains dealer successors and dealership managers. Salesperson Certification offers CD-ROM training and professional certification for dealership sales staff. Information Technology

Information Technology assists dealers in understanding information technology issues, including use of the Internet, and acquiring the best available technologies at competitive prices. IT is also leading an industry-wide effort to develop voluntary dealership computer and communications system standards that will be adopted by all manufacturers and dealer system vendors. Through the PC purchasing program, dealers can purchase computer equipment at discounts and receive robust technical support.

AutoExec Magazine

AutoExec, NADA’s monthly four-color magazine, is sent to all association members, as well as to susbscribers from all sectors of the automotive and financial communities. Increase in interactive advertising budgets comes at the expense of broadcast and print spending. An online version—www. autoeexecmag. com—includes selected portions of each month’s print edition, along with daily breaking news, best business tips, vehicle profiles, and a complete buyer’s guide of products and services for dealerships.
