Ascending Powers

..an incredible Historical Thriller!

Author Beth Waite

Born in Calgary, in the 1960's, Beth is the eldest of six children. Her parents, left Alberta two weeks after she was born as her father, a Member of the Queens Own Rifles, Canadian Army was transferred to Ontario.

For most of Beth's youth, her parents owned and operated a small farm in South Western Ontario, growing their own vegetables and raising cattle, pigs and rabbits. Her Father left the Services and eventually worked as an Engineer, and her Mother worked for the Royal Bank. Beth grew up in a religious home where reading, writing and hard work prevailed. Both parents practiced their religion faithfully and in 1973 adopted a three-year-old child, welcoming her to the family. Beth's Native sister was the inspiration for writing Ascending Powers...as both Sisters learned as much as they could of the Ojibwa People. Beth's three Brother's and their spouses hold positions as respectable business persons in the communities they live in. Her youngest Sister remains close to Beth and she has left her pharmaceutical position to raise her five young children.

Her Grandfather taught her to read at four years old.....and reading became a long lasting obsession for her. Her Grandmother, now 93 years old, spent four decades as a renowned Researcher and Genealogical Icon in Canada and throughout the United States. Beth mysteriously remains fascinated by Anthropology, Archaeology, Cultural History and Native Studies. She owns a large extensive library of books on these subjects. If she is not at her rural property she can most likely be found on an Archeological Dig, at a Cultural Seminar, or fighting for a sensitive cultural injustice somewhere in the world.

After years of writing scores of children's books that she also self-illustrated for the entertainment of her children and later for her grandsons. As the boys grew up and left home these endeavours eventually prompted an attempt at a novel. A novel that would take three years to complete....and a year to publish!

Beth married at a young eighteen. Five years latter, finding herself in the position of divorced woman, she left with four young sons to raise. With her four pre-schoolers, two still in diapers, she worked for eighteen years in the Hospitality Industry, and never looked back. During this time she encountered many wonderful individuals who, to this day, remain some of her closest and dearest friends.

As her children left the nest, Beth went on to further her education and graduated with honors; obtaining a Diploma in Business Management in the Hospitality Industry. She continued her education and graduated as a Law Clerk, with honors. Education is an ongoing requirement for Beth.

Beth made a conscious life-style change to leave the city and bought a small cabin and six acres two hours north of the city of Toronto Ontario. Six years living in solitude, hauling wood for her wood-stove to stay warm in the winter and enduring long power-outages during storms...has certainly allowed Beth to return to her humble roots as a farm-girl.

After travelling extensively to countries around the equator, Beth felt obligated to help others in third world countries. Participating as an influential Civil Activist...there is always a project on the go...parcels and goods mailed to third world counties and letters being mailed to the Canadian Government. Her efforts to change injustice prevail. She trained and obtained certification to teach English as a second language (T.E.S.O.L.). Beth obtained her Real Estate License. She served for a number of years in the community of Kinmount as a Volunteer Fire Fighter. Over the years she has been noted for a number of rescues (car accidents and heart attack victims) as a result of her training as a Fire Fighter and skills in First Aid and C.P.R.

Able to dip deep into her well of life experiences...... a life often difficult and unfair, she has remained soothed by a brilliant imagination and a strong will to go on.

A Champion Great Dane, The Bismark, as well, two Italian Greyhounds, companion her.

Today, now in her 40's, Beth holds the attention of her companion pets, community, friends and large family as they patiently await her next tale.
