What Can I Do?

You may be thinking "what can I do to help?" Well, here are some simple steps in the right direction.

...and if you're thinking: "Cmon, what difference will I make..." Then let me tell you! You can make a huge difference. Even if it is only helping one single person ease their suffering, you deserve a medal.

If you're up for it; then this is for you.

1) Donate

You can make donation of food money or clothes to any of these organizations:

Cheques can be made out to the “Brigidine asylum seekers” and mailed to:
Brigid Arthur,
52 Beaconsfield Pde,
Kilbride Centre,
Albert Park, 3206

or

"The Asylum Seekers Resources Center":
The Asylum Seekers Resources Centre,
207 Nicholson Street,

2) Support People in Asylums

You can write letters to people in detention centres. It really makes them feel good and know someone is trying to help.

To find out more visit either

Spare Rooms For Refugees.

or

Rural Australians for Refugees.

3) Lobby Politicians

You can write letters to politicians expressing your thoughts, but don’t abuse them. Be respectful and truthful.

You can send them to your local electoral office.

4) Inform Yourself with Accurate Information

To find out what is really going on, visit our Links page for a list of other great websites to visit.

Don’t spread false information. Research what you are talking about before you start talking. It is best if you use a variety of sites instead of just one (Links). If people find out the truth, and the truth gets spread, then we can really make a difference.

5) Attend Events

Strength in numbers at events against the treatment of refugees is very important. If an event is being held near you, go there, support them, support the Refugees.

6) Join a National Organisation

Join an Organisation, to give them the numbers and support they need. Here are a few organisations to consider joining:

The Refugee Council of Australia
Australians for Just Refugee Programs
Rural Australians for Refugees
Australians Against Racism
ChilOUT: Children Out Of Detention
