Effort Points

You get effort points by defeating Pokemon. The only place that I know will definitely help increase your Pokemon's HP is the Whismur cave. Once your Pokemon gets a certain amount of points, your Pokemon won't be able to absorb anymore. You find out if your Pokemon can't absorb effort points anymore by asking the lady in Slateport City and if she gives you an Effort Ribbon, you're finished with the first part of training Pokemon. You can now train anywhere without restricting yourself to a certain area.

The Pokemon Itself

A strange thing in Pokemon is that a Pokemon itself has different stats as compared to another Pokemon that is of the same species. My newly hatched Vulpix have Attack stats ranging from 8 to 10 and Defense stats ranging from 8-11(11 is with a boost from its nature). You can find if your Pokemon has high stats if you go to the Battle Frontier and ask a man sitting in a house by the Pokemon Center. If your Pokemon is outstanding, you might as well assume that your Pokemon is truely very special. Impresive ones are already very rare while most are average. The man also tells you about your Pokemon's highest stats. If he tells you that the stat is outstanding, remember that that's not the highest available stat. Many Pokemon are very strong and suitable for the strong type. We only give a list of Pokemon that are strong, but you can find others. I will give you the move sets that we recommend to you. We have tested all of these Pokemon and hope you agree with us. If you don't, we would be happy to receive comments on this topic.(We don't list any legendaries)

Salamance


Salamance is a great and powerful Dragon and Flying type Pokemon. I recommending putting most of your training in Attack while putting som e in Defense and especially Special Defense(The foe's Attack is cut by Intimidate). I would also recommend putting substantial amounts in Speed.

Metagross


Metagross is a powerful Steel and Psychic type. I would recommend more Attack and Special Defense.
