This is the house that started it all. We purchased this home through an advertisement in the local paper as a project for us to work on for our daughter. We enjoyed ourselves so much working on this home that we decided to venture further into this hobby. After purchasing this home and doing some research we discovered that this was a Chalet from the Celerity Company. The home itself was in good physical condition when we purchased it, however the wiring was damaged and the decor was not to scale. So with that we began the task of literally gutting this structure and starting over. We began by removing the flooring in all the rooms along with the wallpaper. Then we removed the plastic windows, some of which were missing, as well as the staircase to allow easier access to the living room. After sanding out all of the glue from the flooring and wallpaper, we ran tape wire throughout the entire home to supply electricity for lighting. After that we began to paint the exterior, changing the color from white to pink (since this was for our little girl) adding a sage green as an accent color. The chimney was removed and sanded down to remove water damage that had existed on the brick work. We then chose a different brick pattern and recovered the chimney and installed it back onto the house. Asphalt shingles were added to the roof in place of the painted black wood. Once the exterior was completed we chose to paint the interior rooms since we figured if our daughter chose to wallpaper later that it would be easier to cover painted walls as opposed to wallpapered ones. We then laid carpet in the dining room and living room and tile in the kitchen and bathroom, leaving the master bedroom and childrens bedroom natural hardwood floors. We also added a brick finish to the outside patio off of the master bedroom. Light fixtures were then installed throughout the home, including a coach light out on the patio. The existing door that lead out to the patio was removed due to it not being of scale and a double french door was installed. Twelve light windows were installed where the larger windows were and four light windows installed where the smaller windows were. A glass-block window was constructed and added to the wall outside of the bathroom as a custom add-on. A bay window was also added just outside of the dining room since the outside of the home looked bare with only three windows. A fireplace was added along with electrified glowing embers to simulate a warming fire. We have added furniture and little touches (childs toys, lighting, and curtains) to finish off this home.
