Please note that there are a few rules involving these  special classes.

1. Horses entered into Liberty classes must be 3yrs or over

2. Any horse that cannot be caught within one minute of the music stopping in the liberty class will be eliminated.  All spectators  must be silent during this minute.

3. Judging of these classes will be on a points basis: for example the mare is judged on her performance as a mare at liberty and graded on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being best).  The first place getters from the stallion, mare and gelding classes will then have their grade ranked to determine the champion and reserve respectively.

4. The actual liberty will be 2mins/horse.  Music is the responsibility of the handler.  Hand in the music on CD with your registration on the day, clearly label it the horse name, gender, class number and handler name.  Also make sure you have a spare just in case.  The audience must all be seated in the pavilion and is also encouraged to use any sound or noise they see fit to cheer a horse on during and only during the 2-minute period.

5. The principal entrant in each of the liberty classes may have a maximum of  two additional persons (over the age of 16yrs) to assist with the shakers or rattles during the 2-minute music period.  These helpers may be positioned anywhere in the indoor arena and may move around at will.

6. For the safety of your horses, please do not terrify them, the gait that is being judged the most is the trot, so once this gait is achieved back off, rather than driving it into a canter.  If whips are to be used they must have a plastic bag on the end so that the horse can see it.
