Band Biography

Atombuzz the band formed back in 1993. But in 1995 Alex, Natt and Ian became the core. 1993-1996 saw the band working hard trying to make a name for themselves in the local scene and the chaotic live shows became legendary. Also in 1996 an E.P was recorded called the FYG E.P. Sadly tensions in the band were at an all time high and the band was put on ice. Members concentrated on side projects, families, careers and feuds.

The band was reborn in 2000 and began rehearsing furiously and playing a couple of shows before tragedy struck and the band was once again put on ice.

2005 saw a stable line up emerge and a healthy rehearsal and gigging schedule followed. Around this time the band recorded D.O.A (decade of alcohol, binge drinking and casual violence) the first recorded output in nearly a decade. The album includes 10 songs written between 1996 and 2005 (the band call it a best of!).

2007 saw the line up change and a refocused, reenergized, angrier and louder Atombuzz emerged.

2008 saw the band record and release their second album, Crisis Intervention. 11 Tracks of pure punk bliss

The sound of the band has progressed (regressed) from heavy metal to hardcore punk with heavy Motorhead style influences. Lyrically the band has always written about society and the things that anger them. At times the material has been viewed as comical but all the material has serious undertones despite interpretation.

The band are always looking for opportunities to play live

ALEX

NAME: ALEX SEDLMAYR (AKA: BIG AL, FLUFFY)

PLAYS: Guitar/Shouts AND writes noise!!!

HEIGHT: 6’7” in heels

AGE:  235 years old

FAV COLOUR:  Blackish

**FACT** I am so talented that I rarely use more than one string and one finger at a time.

Influences - The people that inspired me to pick the guitar and play were few, Mark Knopfler was the biggie, Brothers In Arms had just been released and Money For Nothing was all over the radio and TV, ( I still love that album, especially the title track) that was the one defining moment. My dad would always play Deep Purple, Queen, Pink Floyd and those were mega guitar bands too, I think these bands along with a few others put me on the path to noisy music. At school we were all into Iron Maiden, WASP, Metallica and to a lesser extent (for me anyway Priest), but the bands that influenced me at the START in Atombuzz were: Terrorvision, Therapy, Metallica, Sepultura, Motorhead.

The bands that influence me now are varied and rich, people inspire me as much as music, I like music, I don’t like shit music, I don’t like shit people in music either.

**FACT** I have begged, stolen and borrow riffs from everyone going, but I have mixed so much Terrorvision in everything I do, I reckon I could write for them now.

FAV FILMS: Lord of The Rings, Star Wars (iv, v, vi), Labyrinth, Goonies, the classics!

FAV ATOMBUZZ SONGS:   Ad Absurdo, Reprise, Final Demand

**FACT** I still listen to Dire Straits now and think to myself, if only I'd had some lessons........

ALEX SAYS: The band is going from strength to strength. The new album sounds great, we are writing new stuff, we play some great gigs and festivals and we are always meeting amazing people. Thank you for your support!

ALEX ABUSES: BC Rich Guitars, Wesley Guitars, Marshall Amplification and Marshall Pedals, Ernie Ball Strings and your ears!

ABOUT THE OTHERS  I love this band, I haven’t always loved this band, sometimes it been shit, other times it’s been fucking fantastic. But now, it’s fucking awesome. The reason for this is the other 3 buzzers! Nuff said!

NATT

NAME:  NATT

PLAYS: Hits drums. Writes filth and violence.

HEIGHT: 6 foot when the moon is fat

AGE:  231 years old

FAV COLOUR:  Black

**FACT** Once on tour NATT played so hard and so fast that his drum stall collapsed and he fell to the floor. The other buzz boys just laughed.

The bands that influenced me at the START in Atombuzz were: Mudhoney, Gwar, Therapy?, Motorhead, Ramones, and Black Flag.

I like all forms of Metal and Punk and there are too many bands to list, I really hate SKA.

**FACT** Natt once got so drunk on Absynthe that he went home and urinated up the floor to ceiling curtains, his wife saw him do it but he got back in bed and denied it was him.

FAV FILMS: Evil dead trilogy. Porn.

FAV ATOMBUZZ SONGS:  Carnate Sleeping, Ad Absurdo.

**FACT** Worthing has always been crap, the music scene is crap and all the people with talent leave when they are 17.

NATT SAYS: We formed the band to play metal numbers and to get laid, but we started to play punk and none of the other came true until our world tour (!)
We have had several breaks but now were here to slay.

Natt abuses: Ahead drum sticks, Paiste cymbals, Ludwig pedals and Premier drums.

ABOUT THE OTHERS  Well I suppose by hook or crook I hand picked my crew. As the founder I saw them all audition and here they all are. Loyal lot, and still interested...... thanx boyz.....still BUZZ'IN.

HEIGHT: 5 ft 11 with spiky hair (5ft 10 without)

FAV COLOUR:  Clear – the possibilities are endless!!

**FACT** Once Ian is well into a gig it has been known that his talents resemble a sacred harp being played by a full breasted mermaid.

FAV BANDS:  PWEI, Pitchshifter, Atombuzz, Rage Against the Machine, Suicidal Tendencies, Leonard Cohen, Led Zeppelin, Beastie Boys, Filter, Rammstein, Queen, Lawnmower Death, Faith No More, Green Day, White Zombie, Prodigy, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Pantera, sisters of mercy,

**FACT** Give me time and I'll think of another fact

FAV FILMS: Goonies, Platoon and all things war, Star wars, Lord of the Rings, Bad news, Predator, Lost Boys, Big, TBC

FAV ATOMBUZZ SONG:  Lancin Chix

**FACT** some say that Atombuzz auditioned over 60 vocalists before choosing Ian on vocals.  Some say bollocks

IAN SAYS:  I started singing at school with my favorite hymns being…………..
yeah right!  I chose vocals, as there was no need for a saxophonist in the band. I shout therefore I am.  I do it as it is good laugh and enjoy the songs and am always surprised at what we can come up with next.  My influences include many people and try to combine them all to achieve something that little bit different.
I would say my vocal awareness techniques resemble a choir, which repeatedly grows in voice, clarity, range, and power – Others would not!!!

**FACT** “FYG” has become a contemporary classic. It's been recorded more than 600 times, including internationally.  It has also been requested to be covered by artists such as Barbara Streisand, Barry Manilow and Cliff Richard, among many others. Its incarnations underline its diverse and universal appeal.

McKagan, Nikki Sixx, Billy Sheehan,

FAV BANDS:  Rock and Metal mostly (although I can tolerate most other music), e.g.: A Perfect Circle, Alice in Chains, Anathema, Anthrax, Clawfinger, Coal Chamber, Cold, Deftones, Electric Wizard, Evanescence, Fear Factory, Iron Maiden, Lacuna Coil, Metallica, Nightwish, Nine Inch Nails, Pantera, Prong, Sepultura, Slayer, Strapping Young Lad, The Melvins, The Offspring, Tristania, White Zombie, Within Temptation, and many more.........

*FACT** I just copied and pasted my FAV BANDS from my MySpace profile...how lazy is that. :oD

FAV FILMS: Too many to mention...but to name a few classics: The Crow, Aliens, Predator, X-Men Trilogy, all the Star Wars films, The Matrix and all the Lord of the Rings films...etc...etc...

FAV ATOMBUZZ SONG: Classic = FYG, Favourite to play at the moment = Lancin Chix, Least Favourite to play at the moment = all the ones I don't know. ;o)

**FACT** Atombuzz have been around for many years now, and I have lost count of how many times I have drunkenly chanted along to their gigs...they have amassed a huge following...unfortunately most of those fans seem to prefer an arm-chair, slippers and hot cocoa than going and laughing along
with the lads...time for some emotional black-mail for future gigs. :oD

ROSS SAYS:  I started playing bass when I was fifteen when my ex-mate Gary (W**KER) persuaded me to take up Bass because it was the only instrument he could not find anyone to play...at least I'm not a failed guitarist like most bass-players. Back then I was a massive Steve Harris (Iron Maiden legend) fan and would spend hours galloping along to their greatest hits,
then I finally got out and started doing some gigs and even did a charity gig at the Littlehampton school with Grandma Stretch.

Many different line-ups went by in the years, eventually ended up playing in a band with Gary and my other friends Neil, Eddie and Paul and we did a few gigs, including one where we played at the Thieves Kitchen (now Vintners Parrot) which was fun but we unfortunately picked the one night that England were playing football...busy not the word.

After I fell out with Gary following one too many incidents of him screwing over mates and peeing off band members I went into bass hibernation for a while until being persuaded out by Natt and my friend Paul who wanted to get a band together...welcome in Vallum...a few gigs were had (including a
memorable one at the Waterfront captured on video) but we weren't going anywhere with the human dirge-machine Matt so we decided mutually to part ways (Matt got sacked) and then re-formed as Vertigate with our good friend Lee on vocals.

A few more good gigs were had even did a battle of the bands at the venue formerly known as Flappers (R.I.P) in front of about a 100 people which was cool, we didn't win though because we were playing the same gig as Dirty Shoes I think it was and we had no chance against their following.

Eventually another of our good friends Lez (now Eternal Torment bassist) joined the band on guitar (Paul got fed up with the pressure of being solo guitarist...in his words "I'm rubbish"). This brought a new edge to the band and some good music was created, we played a memorable gig at the Pressure
Point, memorable because it was one of my favourite gigs...I remember we got up on stage and there was hardly anyone there, so we thought "what the hell, lets have a laugh!" I then started going through my first nerve-free first song only to notice afterwards that the room had filled. :oO

Plans were afoot for us to go places...then Lee decided to get his girlfriend pregnant...and that as they say was that. There were attempts to re-start again (Lee convinced Paul and Lez to start jamming in Lez's room) but it didn't happen and I went back into Hibernation...many years later,
here I am...bassing for the Buzz.

**FACT** If you keep a goldfish in a dark room, it will eventually turn white...apparently!

OLD NEWS

OLD NATT NEWS:

L
ast weekend, Atombuzz drumming legend and band founder, Natt, was again seen flashing his enormous wealth around his hometown of Worthing. Arriving from a party, in a stretched Limo, he began to drink expensive wine and smoke cigarrettes on the bonnet of the car. Passers by were astonished at the arrival of the punk megastar back to his home town, especially as only last month he described it as "A festering shit hole of squalid lowlife suburban scum , only ever glistening when the sun hits the sea of shit that is the local music scene."

The local boy racers at Teville Gate were impressed by the lavish car that Natt had pulled up in, although they did say they would have spent the money buying big speakers and doing up their Vauxhall Novas and Renault Clios.

Natt stayed in Worthing for some time signing autographs, and giving away copies of the as yet unreleased album.
One passer by commented that it was nice to see him giving something back to the community after he took so much inspiration out of it to write about.
Natt was unavailable to comment although the ATOMBUZZ press office did release this statement- "FUCK OFF YOU CHAV SCUM!"
