Keep On Toggin'!

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Atog-web, a site dedicated to the cutest creatures ever seen in Magic: the Gathering - Atogs! I've hunted down all possible information about Atogs and put it together for you on this site. Enjoy!

My guestbook has apparently vanished. Stay tuned.

NEW! - Time Spiral features two Atogs: a reprint of Auratog (among the Timeshifted cards) and a very special artifact... Also check out the fun facts for some new flavor text findings.

What are Atogs?

Atogs are creatures from the Magic: the Gathering cardgame. Most of them have big grins - which is why I like them so much. The concept of Atogs is that they eat stuff to become stronger. In game terms, this means sacrificing resources. The original Atog ate artifacts, but later Atogs have eaten everything from lands to cards in the hand or graveyard or even turns.

Atogs are found on the plane of Dominaria, on the continents Terisiare, Jamuraa and Otaria. The last one has especially large quantities of Atogs, including the cannibalistic Atogatog. In Terisiare it is an expression to say someone has "the social graces of an Atog", meaning that one has bad manners. Atogs are also found on Rath, where they probably ended up after one of Rath's local overlays with Dominaria. Finally, Atogs are found on Mirrodin, most likely having been brought there by Memnarch for his experiments. The abundance of metal there has allowed the artifact-eating kind to evolve to a much larger kind of Atog - the Megatog.

Physically, Atogs are small, humanoid creatures. They possess some amount of intelligence and communicate via whistling and mimicking human sounds, in case of being kept by humans. Some of them will voluntarily serve humans or other intelligent creatures. The most common kind is purple and eats artifacts.
