Migratory Bird Day Refuge Series of Birding

Series of Birding starting point at the beginning of the Forsythe
Refuge auto trail.

The Refuge Series of Birding is a fun activity for the whole family. It takes place at the Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge on Migratory Bird Day in May. This popular SOB contest is a short birding trip around the refuge by teams of novice or wannabe birdies. It is tailored to the beginning, casual, or backyard birder. Unlike the 24 hour professional World Series of Birding, the Refuge SOB takes from one-half to three hours starting and ending whenever team time  permits. Friends, families, and youths are invited to join in the fun of birding. Bring the kids and acquaint them with the sport of birding games at their nearby National Wildlife Refuge. Multitudes of migratory birds will be stopping over to rest and fuel up for continued flight to their summer homes. To enter the contest, pick up your game kit at the SOB outpost at head of the Auto Trail or at the refuge headquarters building. Fun prizes will be awarded the top winning teams. Call 927-4323 for more information about it.

Come join the fun on Migratory Bird Day May13, 2006.
