The Supporters Association was re-formed in 2003 with the primary objective of providing official transport to away games. For many years any fans wishing to travel away to see the reds had to either make their own way or get one of the few seats that were spare on the team coach. Season 2003/04 saw the club back in the Unibond League Premier Division for only the second time in the clubs history and for the first time since 1998. As the club now required a more professional approach, it was decided that separate coaches should be run, with one for the team etc, and one for the supporters. During the 03/04 season the supporters transport was arranged by the Supporters Association but was subsidised by the football club in the event that the bus was not full. A coach was run to most of, but not all of the games for that season.

The subsidy from the club was just for the 03/04 season, and so from the start of season 2004/05 we had to go it alone. Even though we had become founder members of the new Conference North league, it was decided to keep the prices the same at £10 adults and £5 under 16s for every game regardless of where it was, and it was decided to run a bus to every game, regardless of it being full or not. Of course should the bus not be full for any games, we would then be running at a loss and the money would have to come from somewhere. Several fund raising events were set up to prepere for this, including a sponsored walk before the start of the 2004/05 campaign.

So, for the first time that I know of, with the help of fundraising and donations by association members and supporters, official transport is now run to every away game.

The arrangement of having separate transport for the team and the fans has proved to be a huge success, and a popular choice with most of the travelling fans. Transport was again provided for every away game for our second season in the Conference North League 2005/06 anf or 2006/07, regardless of the numbers on board, and it is our aim is to keep it up for the 2007/08 season and beyond.

Thanks to all those who have helped with fundraising, ideas, and donations and to all of those who have traveled with us.
