Comet Holmes Passes Perseus

3x 1 minute exposure, stacked in DeepSky Stacker, ISO 1600, UHC Sodium Rejection Filter

This is a composite image, 1 second for the comet and 5 seconds for the background stars. Photographs were taken from my back garden in Derby. 5 images stacked using DeepSky Stacker.

 

A close-up of the comet reveals three bright points of light. One of these is the comet nucleus, the other two are background stars.
