Dirt Track Racing: A full contact sport!
Welcome to the official website of A.S.T. Racing.
We are a first year team and are doing everything that we can to be fast learners. We have never raced before this season. One day we decided to purchase a race car from a mutual friend. This car is the number 99, 1992 Chevrolet Cavalier. We are racing in the Super Four class at Dixieland Speedway in Elizabeth City, NC. Due to this being our first season we are mainly focused on seat time. Therefore, we will be alternating drivers in the car. Morris Beasley, Jr. and Anthony Jones will be the primary drivers of this machine. So stop by on Friday nights and wish everyone there the best of luck.
I'm Anthony (Tony) Jones....I guess I am an owner/driver in the Biggs Super Four class at Dixieland Speedway in Elizabeth City N.C. I have enjoyed the driving I have done so far and hope my back lets me do more. I really enjoy working on the car more than driving but I am not sure what I am doing there either. I bought the car ready to race so I didn't have to do much to it before the first practices, but I did learn at them that you have to work on it every week once you start running it as things get loose and you have to try and tweek the chassis.
My wife Susan has been real supportive of me and has been there to help with what ever was needed. She has fallen in love with racing as much as Morris and I. My son Austin (who is 4, maybe should say super 4) is as much a part of the team as any one of us. He hates the noise but love to help work on the car.
My son-in-law Morris (what can I say.........Find a real job asshole) is the other driver as we both want to get seat time. He is doing good for never being around a race car or even watching a race inperson. His lap times were getting better by the end of his first race, but we will see if he keeps improving.
We are currently looking for another super 4 to run but not killing ourselves looking as we don't plan on running 2 cars till next year.
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely
in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways -
Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up,
totally worn out and screaming, "Hell Yeah, What a Ride!"
Hello. My name is Morris Beasley, Jr. I am a recent graduate of Elizabeth City State University. I received my Bachelor's of Science in Industrial Technology with a minor in Computer and Electronics. I have a wife, 1 daughter, and another on the way (due some time in July). Some time in the middle of March, my father-in-law purchased our race car. Neither one of us had raced before this season and we will alternate Friday nights in order to gain seat time. I never had the opportunity to even watch a race in person, let alone drive in one. Now that I have, I believe that I have found a new hobby. This sport is extraordinary. There are no words that can explain the amount of fun that you have in these race cars (even if you're not keeping up to speed...lol). For anyone that is looking for an adrenaline rush, try getting yourself a race car and giving the world of racing a go.
Hello. My name is Susan Jones. One of my main hobbies is genealogy. I have conducted extensive research on my family history and have been able to extend our family tree for generations. We have five children, two boys and three girls. The oldest children are 24 years old and the youngest is 4. We have one grand daughter and another on the way. We have learned to love the racing environment. The story is quite funny. I went into food lion to get a box of popsicles for my daughter and came out with a race car. We went and picked the car up that afternoon. And we haven't stopped playing with it yet. My husband and son-in-law are the primary drivers of the car. They spend a lot of time working with the race car and have dubbed the name "Baby" for it. Austin Jones, or "Bubba," is our son. He is 4-years old and he is the junior crew chief for our team. He loves to work on it and believes that he knows more about the car than the rest of them. Which in our case he just might...lol. We hope to get him a go-kart for racing sometime in the near future. He will not eat hotdogs at home, but when we get to the track the first thing he asks for is "race track hotdogs." So, wish us luck through-out our first season, and come out to the track on friday nights to support us and everyone else.
