The Figure Competitor

I have always been into physical fitness and staying healthy.  Naturally my genetics have allowed me to stay at a very moderate weight throughout my whole life.  I am blessed to have the key elements to build a future in the figure competitor world.  But that doesn't mean that it will be easy getting to the top.  Not only do I work as a salaried manager I am currently going to school to finish my long anticipated degree in marketing.  It is a very complicated life I am living now but the figure training is what keeps me balanced.  Being fit is part of my everyday life; it will always be my passion.  The benefit to this sport for me is very satisfying.  Being the self motivated person that I am, I don't let the fact that I have flaws discourage me from fulfilling my goals.  Yes, I said goals.  Being in this sport requires a lot of goal setting.  But before you set goals in anything you need to assess what has worked in the past and continue that course, but what didn't work you need to let it go.  This year I have a plan and as long as I give it my all I will be satisfied with the results.

The Fitness Model

We all dream the American dream of being famous.  I know that this had to come across your mind at one time or another.  Why not take that chance.  I just wish I would have thought about it a long time ago.  But, does age have to stop you from pursuing what you feel in your heart you can achieve?  By taking that leap to cross over in the OCB Federations Fitness Model division in 2006, this gave me the recognition of one of the top 10 fitness model finalist @ the October Charm City Classic held in Baltimore, MD.

My Diet & Training

Motivation and self determination are two of the main elements that drive me.  If you don’t like to spend time on development then you’re never going to reach your goals.  What you eat is also important.  I eat a variety of foods.  I like eating healthy.  Organic foods and supplements have worked best for me.  I try to buy & eat everything that way unless it is not available.  Small meals throughout the day are the ticket to a more competitive figure competitor.  I eat basic things such as clean meats (grilled chicken & fish), a lot of vegtables and I stay away from a lot of breads, fats and sugars.  I also have a professional massage therapist, which focuses on deep tissue massages and sports massages right before and sometimes after competitions.  Going to the sauna is a good way to relax after a hard work out.  Also, if you have a good trainer that knows your body and differentiates your genetic build, you got it made.   Everyone is different and your trainer should be able bring the best out of you, not what their other clients bring to the table.  Remember train hard and rest your muscles once a week.
