Welcome

Hello to everyone, we are asphyxiation, a metal band from around worksop. This site as updates of what the bands upto and reviews on gigs the bands have played. The band has recently changed there drummer so wont be playin any gigs until the end of april 2005. The new drummer Jake as had a great impact on the band and the new material is sounding really good. Hopefully we'll be back on track with gigs as soon as possible.

General News

02/04/05 - New Drummer

The band have had a tough past month, and effectively led to changing there drummer. The band had to get a new drummer so they could move on. Jake is the new drummer and he as fitted into the band as well as any new drummer could have. Hopefully we will be ready for some gigs very soon. Please try and get down to the regal when the band play at the end of april... not sure on date.

25/09/04 - New songs

The band have been writing a few more songs, they have a couple that are in the process of being writen. They have finished writing all the songs that are going to go on the next demo. There will be another four songs on the next demo, the band have started recording the demo and hopefully it will be released some time in November. The band are trying to get as much studio time as possible to get the demo recorded as soon as possible.

13/06/04 - Asphyxiation DEMO
The self titled demo is available now, we will be selling it at our gigs. If you see kaz give him a shout and he'll sort you out with one. There's soon to be another asphyxiation demo out in november if we get the studio time.

Gig Reviews

04/12/04 - The Ship w/ The Ground Beneath

A perfect band to play along side, The ground beneath are a great band and they are a great group of people. The band hope to be playing another gig along side them in the near future. If you see any posters with the ground beneath on it go to the gig you wont be disapointed. Ninth Life were meant to be playing with us, but there were some problems. Oh and just to make sure you all know they are still around, they haven't broke up  so don't worry. Asphyxiation hope to be playing a gig at the regal with them and the ground beneath in january so please come, book the night off work, make sure you come support the bands playing.

19/11/04 - Classic Rock Bar

The band played along side a couple of local sheffield bands, they played well cutting a few of there songs out of the set to make it fit to the half hour slot. It was a good set and the band played well. They will playing there again sometime in december, so any locals get back there, they were a few people who asked for a demo and overall we think we made a good impression.

16/11/04 - Corporation, Sheffield

The band was excited to play a gig at such a big venue with a big stage and the lot. There was a good sound tech and the band played there latest song and suprisingly they played it right. They dropped the likes of despised, consumed and fuck punk rock from there set list and hopefully will fill the gaps with some new stuff soon. They played along side Last Chance Saloon and Toxic Yoghurt who both were good. The gig could have been promoted much better but as it was a college gig what do u expect to be done... Yeah nothin'.

06/11/04 - Boardwalk, Sheffield

Asphyxiation were lucky to get a spot at this gig as a band dropped out last minute. It was good for them to play with other metal bands and bands more similar to themselves. They were the third band on out of 9. And thy played well considering the band have not practiced much over the past few weeks. Andy broke a string which was a slight problem but it didnt take much to get his fender in tune and on stage. They performed well, though they couldnt hear much on stage.

02/11/04 - Grapes, Sheffield w/ Step Aside

A good gig considering the venue was quite small. The two other bands also being metal bands helped as they attracted metal fans and hopefully asphyxiation made a few new fans. Its one of the few times the band have actually played on a stage... which was exciting for them... The band also made a few contacts and maybe a new gig on friday. So it was well worth travelling to do. The band is trying to get as many gigs in sheffield as possible as there are more opportunities out there than in worksop. So if you know any places that dont mind bands playin in contact me at gd_0703@hotmail.com tar...

30/10/04 - Halloween at the Frog

It went well for the band, and was great to support nil by mouth yet again. It was fancy dress and asphyxiation didnt really make much effort on that front, but they played well... they played the usual set, and was on for about an hour. There was loads of people at the frog, the most asphyxiation have played to in there. Asphyxiation are hopefully going to try and record another demo in college soon as the new desk as arrived . The band is hoping to work on a few new songs soon.

19/09/04 - Battle of the bands Mansfield

No suprises, the band didn't get through along with another metal act that night. The judges were quite bias i think but what can you do. Asphyxiation played a good set and played it well. Bryan was having problems with his voice before the gig due to last night at the frog. He was losing his voice but managed to maintain it whilst they were on stage. I don't think it would have mattered if he hadnt got problems with his voice. But a good experiance and we sold a few demo's and hopefully made a few more fans.

18/09/04 - Frog w/ NinthLife and Borax

A really good gig for the band. This was the first time they played there new song "No one" and it seemed to go down really well. Ninth life were a really good support for the band and are become close friends with asphyxiation. Borax were a good opening act as there music was grungey metal which is always good. The band played there whole set which reached over an hour, bryan was totally wasted but when he got on the stage all was well. They played a tight set and to say they was playing new material for the first time they played pretty smooth.

09/09/04 - Battle of the bands Retford

The band arrived in retford not sure what to expect from the event. They was unaware of what it was like so they were a little anxious. They knew that there had been no metal acts go through so far, and so this worried them a little, but they were still determined to give this there best shot and put all there effort into it. They sound checked with get through this and it sounded really good, everything was clear which makes a change. They had there own changing room which they were quite happy about and over all the nerves there was a positive vibe between them all. When it came to the time, they were all ready. They got on the stage behind the red curtins testing there instruments, making sure they were still in tune...over and over again. Bryan testing his vocals, and then getting told off by some old guy because it wasnt neccessary or some shit. Obviously wasnt into screamo. Then the curtins rised up and Bryan, Andy and AC moved forward and then it started. Get through this was the first song and it definately got a good response of the crowd, people thenm started moved to the stage and then rockin out. Until I die went down well, and finishing on You are was incredible, none stop rocking through the whole song. It was great to see they got the people involved and made some new fans from it. Kaz sold quite a few demo's too which is always good. Then it was judgement time, and we had the feeling we wasn't what they were looking for. And it wasn't, the two bands that went through were indie bands, and in the finals there were only two bands that stood out. Darwin Theory won in the finals, anyway theres always mansfield!!!

03/09/04 - The Frog yet again

Asphyxiation are now regulars at there local venue, and it is noticable that they've got a following with quite a few familiar faces. The band played along side a few local bands, carpet mouth, toxic yoghurt and little mono. It was supposed to be little mono headling the gig but due to a few problems Asphyxiation ended up headlinig. In the local area Asphyxiation is becoming a popular word, and they are definately impressing people. They've come along way in a short space of time. There was a fairly good turnout, not the best that the band as seen but they played well and just used the gig as a warm up to battle of the bands. The band are going to record there second demo sometime in november so keep visiting the site to find out more.

20/08/04 - Frog and nightgown

After Asphyxiations long journey back from carlisle (and there extra long lay in) the band was straight to the frog to organise there next gig. The band although tired was looking forward to it as it was in a location that all the fans could get too. They played along side Galerum and Carpet mouth. It was one of Asphyxiations best gigs yet specially at such a small venue. The place was packed with local metal fans and this made Asphyxiation give as much as they could. They played the most energetic gig so far and there full set which was an hour long. Andy H snapped his bottom string, but it was all ok because he doesnt use it. AC's bottom string was out of tune so he had to avoid using it. Kaz finished off the set by increasing the tempo until he was totally fucked, and bryan was as entertaining as ever! until next time....

19/08/04 - Carlisle

It was a long trip for the band to take, but they made it all the way to the venue. Asphyxiation made the most of there day out to Carlisle, though the gig itself was pretty disapointing. The band met up with
Pink as a Panther (an austrian band) who they were supporting and was invited to the tour bus after sound check. The band was quite different to asphyxiation. When it came to the point when asphyxiation was about to go on stage the crowd didnt look very good. There was very few people around and the people who was there didnt look the type of people who we could make fans out of. It was the night of the a level results and thats what asphyxiation depended on to get an audience. In the end there wasn't many people there, about 40 and none of them got into the music. The band was disapointed but it was a good experience for them, it as certainly persuaded them to get a tour bus....in time.

14/08/04 - Charity gig at Frog

The band played along side Darwin theory and a few other local bands at a charity gig at the frog and night gown in worksop. They played well judging by the reactions of the audience. There were a few familiar faces in the crowd, which is always nice to see. The band wasn't as pleased with there performance but the everyone else was pleased.

31/07/04 - Return to Davitts

Asphyxiation returned to the davitts club in leeds with local bands Ninth life and Galerum. The band returned much tighter than the last time and with new material. Galerum started off the night with a half an hour set, they was impressive as this was their third gig. They was a great opening act as they set the mood for the night. Ninth Life took the stage straight after with an energetic 45 mins of pure original material. The last support was from Dead Like Me who was a band from around the local area we played in in leeds. It was a shame they only had a 20 minute set due to problems with there guitarists. Nut they played well as did every band who played that night. Asphyxiation then took the stage, opening with consumed and leaving the crowd with "you are" the latest material from the band. It was certainly enough to satisfy the audience. After they played they stook around to sign demo's and chill with the asphyx fans. It was a great gig for the band and they hope to play in leeds again soon.

16/06/04 - The Ship

Well, there were'nt many asphyxiation fans down but it was down to the lack of promotion. It was a good night and it was good for a laugh. Also the band played along side a couple of other college bands, including skirmish which meant that they new them well and ended up getting a good set up. Asphyxiation were in tune as well (can you beleive it) and played well and played the whole set. It was a shame we couldnt promote the gig any more than we could only it was a last minute decision that we did play. But there was a couple of familiar faces around, two of our biggest fans came and supported the band so that was cool. The next gig is at woodsettes (midsummer festival) so please come and support us, means alot.

13/06/04 - French Horn

Well it has to be said, it wasnt there best gig so far though they did play well and there performance was tight. The reason it didnt go quite as well as we expected it would was down to the size of the room and its shape. All the bands that played that day had the same problem though so it couldnt have been helped. Also the tuner they used aparently tuned the guitars in deeper than they should have been...the tuner has been thrown away now though so problem solved. Overall the band wasnt too disapointed, and there were a few people who gave positive feedback to the band so it wasnt all that bad.

22/05/04 - Leeds

Asphyxiation rocked out in Leeds for the first time on saturday. It was a mate of the bands 18th birthday party and Asphyxiation was invited to show what they've got. They started off with there earlyier material, despise and consumed which got the audience onto the floor. Then with dirty girls and the latest tunes being played it showed the audience that they were serious about what they do but that they could do it in style. It was the second gig in a long time and i think it as given the band much more confedence to play infront of larger audiences. The band got such a positive response from the audience, even those who were not familiar with the band and there work. All the other bands who played also showed encouragement towards the band. Overall it was a very good night for Asphyxiation. Don't forget to come see them at the french horn in worksop next month...

21/05/04 - Newcastle arms

It was good to see Asphyxiation back on track, they proved that they hadnt lost what they got on there first gig since the absense of Bryan. They played a sililar set to what they played at the regal all those months ago only with a couple extra songs to beef it up. They played very well, and there was quite a few people who turned up to see the band. The band are becoming much tighter as a band in every gig they do. The band have a few more gigs lined up for next month so be sure to check the dates on www.asphyxiation-band.co.nr Asphyxiation apreciate the support the fans have showed so far, thanks.
