Methods and equipment

Besides traditional methods [using squeegee and applicator], we use water-fed pole methods and to clean windows.

Water-fed poles:

We are highly trained and experienced in the safe use of ladders, harnesses and hydraulic platform vehicles (“cherry pickers”) and we can access any building in a safe and controlled manner.

Specialising in all aspects of window, UPVC and facade cleaning, we continually ensure that we are up-to-date with the latest methods and equipment. For example, by using the very latest in water purification and pole cleaning systems (“Reach and Wash” from Ionic Systems Ltd.) we have minimised the need for ladders. This equipment has ensured that our operations are fully compliant with the latest health and safety legislation. Any method that reduces the need to work at height from ladders, is obviously beneficial, as the vast majority of window cleaning related accidents are due to the misuse of a ladder.

The Reach and Wash system uses de-ionised water. The wash and rinse are contemporaneous, the window then dries

naturally to a crystal clear finish.  This relatively new method of cleaning has revolutionised the cleaning industry as the benefits outweigh other cleaning methods, by far. By using 100% pure laboratory graded water, which is then pumped through telescopic poles, we are able to access and clean windows to heights in excess of 65 feet (5-6 floors). There are no Health and Safety risks impeding its use in any way, making it, by far, the safest and most cost-effective cleaning method with excellent results. In order to overcome increasing restrictions regarding the use of ladders, Clearview were one of the first window cleaning contractors in the region to start using mobile water treatment systems for use with water-fed poles.

Here is a list of the main attributes and benefits of the Reach and Wash Pole Cleaning System:

  • Cleans up to 65 Feet (6 floors)
  • Proprietary carbon fibre poles including the “multipole”
  • Cleans windows, UPVC, facades, glass roofs, panelling and cladding, signs, atria, canopies and facades with ease
  • Cleans frames at the same time as the glass [all at no extra cost]
  • Minimises the use of ladders, cherry pickers and cradles
  • Operators work from the safety of the ground
  • Reaches previously inaccessible windows with ease. Easily reaches windows over obstructions such as cars, low level roofing, lawns or flower beds.
  • A “green” process, environmentally friendly, as no chemicals are used
  • Maintains privacy and reduced incidences of disturbance
  • Saves money for the customer. The Reach and Wash system saves our customers an average of 30-40% of their total cleaning costs compared with other leaning methods!

We give free demonstrations of the Reach and Wash window cleaning system which is carried out by our regular staff and not a sales representative.

The Reach and Wash System consists of a 5 stage water-treatment system and carbon fibre poles to deliver 100% pure graded water to the window or facade surface. The treatment process utilises reverse osmosis and mixed bed de-mineralising resin to produce 100% pure, laboratory graded water. As no chemicals or detergents are used, the process is environmentally friendly.

The 5 stage process:

   1. Commercial water softener removes calcium. (Protects RO membrane)

   2. Carbon filter removes harmful chlorine. (Protects RO membrane)

   3. Micron sediment filter removes larger water born partials (protects RO membrane)

   4. 1,000 litres of water, reverse osmosis units filter water to produce 95-98% pure water which is stored in holding tanks.

   5. Mixed bed resin de-ionisation tank polishes water from holding tank at point of use to deliver 100% pure window cleaning water to the water-fed poles.

The nature of de-mineralised water is to strive and return to its natural state by actively absorbing all dirt, chemicals and minerals. When used for window cleaning, provided the correct technique has been used, the final rinse water dries to a perfect finish, leaving the window clean and free of contaminants. Traditional window cleaning leaves behind sticky soap residue, which readily attracts fresh dirt to adhere to the window. Windows cleaned with the Reach and Wash system, actually stay cleaner for longer.

The cleaning precedent was set by the replacement window industry, where glass used to produce double glazed sealed units is washed and rinsed using de-mineralised water prior to assembly. This is the reason that sealed units will remain optically perfect for many years, until the seal is damaged.

Methodologies including the use of ladders, harnesses and eye-bolts can be discussed with customers on an individual basis, if their site dictates consideration of such methods.

Hydraulic Platforms (“Cherry Pickers”):

Reaching and cleaning at “impossible heights.” Occasionally some buildings cannot be cleaned or are impossible to access by using conventional or Reach and Wash cleaning methods. This may necessitate use of a hydraulic platform vehicle, allowing us to access windows and facades to a maximum height of 100 feet (9-10 floors).

Commonly referred to as ”cherry pickers,” these high level platforms are available to us on a hire-only basis. We have negotiated excellent rates from reputable suppliers with any savings passed on to our customers. We have access to a wide range of machines that can tackle any height and suit most budgets. All of the contractors that are used for such platforms are highly experienced and are fully insured and trained to IPAF standards.
