Brief history in Talen's own words: A few words to the wise; don't ever sleep with a government offical's mistress, even if she did instigate it, then beat the hell out of his sorry ass when he discovers you in his bed rutting the bitch into the mattress. God, was that a wonderful mistake. I honestly don't know where that spout of temper came from; I'm usually not that hot-headed, no matter what my former owners might say.
But when one is born into slavery, son of a concubine mother who was dumber than a box of rocks, one either learns to be charming and strong, or gets gutted after the first initiation. Thanks to my smarts, I've got an education, a body Adonis would drool over and the prettiest smile a woman'll ever see. And let's not forget the damned collar around my neck. That I could honestly do without. But under all this charming cynicism, I can promise there's a spine of steel; I haven't survived this long by bending over and taking anything from some fawning whip-holder.
