Before we get too heavily into the thick of things, a few caveats, or words of warning. And God, doesn't everyone say it these days?
1. I am a serious individual, at least when it comes to creative writing and my selected role play games. I hold common sense, decency, good grammar and spelling in esteemed regard. Spell check is your friend. While the stories I do are genuinely fun and creative, they also must be given the best effort from all parties involved. I dedicate much time and detail into my stories; I ask that of all with whom I play.
2. Also, I am online much of my free time. Most of my hobby work is done on the computer; thusly I am able to multi-task to my heart's content. If you are interested in starting a story, it's imperative that you are able to be online more than two hours a week. And this is just a broad generalization. Nothing frustrates me more than having a plot and story planned, then the other party disappears. Should you not be able to commit your time to the rp, don't bother.
3. I am a role player. I am not a sixteen year old bag of raging hormones with no life looking for hot monkey sex by character proxy. I write stories; I don't do cyber sex, no matter what's suggested otherwise. However, I'm not averse to the concept of character romance, whether it be fluffy and cuddly or just plain unadulterated lust. And don't me that it's not possible in every story ever created. Let's be real here. Even animals have hormones, God.
While I don't go around frothing for smutty stories, the element it adds does make for an interesting read, so it's great when it happens. But there's a level of tastefulness that must be upheld; after all, the story deserves its dignity. And no "fading to black" or any of that garbage. If we're going to bother with it at all, bull on through it and enjoy it as a part of the story. The characters do, after all. Their writers might as well, also.
4. I am open to all types of role play stories. I have a plethora of characters, ranging from fantastical, medieval, historical, modern and alternate universe. I am not averse to romance and sexually explicit stories, but will not do so with anyone under the legal age of consent. And please don't fib. That would make me feel bad. And there must be plot to the rp, not just endless smut. Please see number 3 again if you really need this reiterated again. It's sorta my pet peeve.
5. My writing style is novel-based. Meaning I write in paragraph style. Details make the story. I do not one-line. However, I do value quality over quantity. If the post needed is to the point and coherent, so much the better. Overly flowerly descriptions and repetitive inaneness make me ill, quite frankly. There is no reason to use six paragraphs to describe a character's lashes blinking. Really.
6. Also, I have this canny ability to spin a new character out of the depths of my brain at the muse's whim. Some rp'ers would rather take poison than make a new character, but it's a talent of mine, of which I'm rather proud. So, should you not see anyone that catches your fancy here, feel free to suggest alternatives and I'll certainly see what I can dream up.
7. Most important of all, methinks: Be nice. This is the internet, not omglifeordeth!!11lijhdrfu!!.
