9/21/08 Inseperable Update
From Canada.com:
Inseparable
Remember 1970s teen singing idol Shaun Cassidy? He's now a producer, the guy behind this U.S. TV pilot starring Lloyd Owen as a psychiatrist with a split personality. Tricia Helfer co-stars.
6/25/08 Inseperable Update
From Zap2It.com:
Tricia Helfer has signed on to co-star in FOX's drama pilot "Inseparable."
Created by Shaun Cassidy ("Invasion"), "Inseparable" is a modern-day Jekyll-and-Hyde-style look at a partially paralyzed forensic psychiatrist (Lloyd Owen) with a split personality. His main alter ego just happens to be a master criminal.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Helfer will play a police department psychiatrist.
In addition, the trade reports that Morgan Turner will play the main character's daughter.
Helfer, currently appearing on the last season of Sci Fi Channel's "Battlestar Galactica," signed a talent deal with FOX back in April. The Canadian-born model-turned-actress previously co-starred in the FOX pilot "Them."

Tricia Helfer has been cast as the female lead in Fox's pilot Inseparable.
The drama is a modern-day reworking of the Jekyll and Hyde story focusing on Justin/Clyde (Lloyd Owen), a partially paralysed forensic psychiatrist with a charismatic criminal as his alter ego.
The Battlestar Galactica actress will play Mason Wicks, a psychiatrist working with the police department.
Morgan Turner has also joined the cast as Justin's daughter Emily.
Invasion creator Shaun Cassidy wrote the Inseparable pilot.
6/20/08 Inseperable Update
From Zap2It.com:
"Viva Laughlin" star Lloyd Owen has been cast in the lead of FOX's drama pilot "Inseparable," taking over for the departed Toby Stephens.
Created by Shaun Cassidy ("Invasion"), "Inseparable" is in contention for a midseason berth at FOX.
A modern-day take on the Jekyll-and-Hyde story, "Inseparable" focuses on a partially paralyzed forensic psychiatrist (Owen) with a very devious alter ego, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"Inseparable" has already had an unusual journey to reach this stage. FOX approved casting at the beginning of the year before a finished script was in place. Stephens snagged the lead, but the writers strike put the process in limbo. FOX didn't order an actual pilot until May, by which time the studio's deal with Stephens had expired.
The FOX offering also shouldn't be confused with NBC's modern-day Jekyll-and-Hyde story, the Monday night spy drama "My Own Worst Enemy," which stars Christian Slater.
Before his very short-lived run as a CBS star this past fall -- "Laughlin" was cancelled after two low-rated airings -- Owen's credits included "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles," "Monarch of the Glen" and the feature "Miss Potter."
5/12/08 Inseperable Update
From C21Media (London):
As it prepares for its Upfront on Thursday, Fox has given a cast-contingent pilot order for mid-season consideration for Inseparable. Toby Stephens was previously cast in the hour-long drama, which at the time was contingent on creator Shaun Cassidy's latest draft of the script. Since then, Stephens's option has expired, forcing producers to search for a new lead.
ABC Studios will continue to produce the project, which follows a forensic psychiatrist who has an alternate personality as a result of a traumatic childhood event.
From Zap2It.com:
Also, FOX has given a cast contingent pilot order to "Inseparable" from Shaun Cassidy. Toby Stephens was formerly attached to star, but the actor's deal reportedly expired before FOX could formally order the pilot.
3/3/08 Inseperable Update
From Canada.com:
LOS ANGELES -- With the pilot season truncated to three months because of the writers strike, some broadcast networks are hiring actors for projects that may not even get shot.
British TV actor Toby Stephens (Jane Eyre) was cast Wednesday as the lead in Fox's drama Inseparable, a modern-day Jekyll and Hyde tale. However, the project has not yet been picked up to pilot.
Inseparable was pitched before the strike by creator Shaun Cassidy. The network asked for a revised draft, which Cassidy couldn't complete before the three-month stoppage began on Nov. 5. Fox in January gave its blessing for casting to begin, but delayed the pilot order until it can read Cassidy's new draft.
In similar fashion, two comedy projects, Fox's Don't Bring Frank and CBS's Ex Life, were cleared to begin casting before the projects have been picked up to pilots.

Networks hire actors for fantasy projects

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - With the pilot season truncated to three months because of the writers strike, some broadcast networks are hiring actors for projects that may not even get shot.

Another article from 2/28/08 from The Hollywood Reporter: (thanks to ValentineVal for the heads-up on this article!):
With the pilot season truncated to three months because of the writers strike, some broadcast networks are switching the order of pilot casting and pickups to save time and give themselves a better shot at sought-after talent.
On Wednesday, British actor Toby Stephens ("Die Another Day") was cast as the lead in Fox's drama "Inseparable." However, the project has not yet been picked up to pilot.
A modern-day Jekyll and Hyde tale about a partially paralyzed forensic psychiatrist (Stephens) with a split personality whose alter ego is a charismatic criminal, "Inseparable" was pitched before the strike by creator Shaun Cassidy, who originally developed it several years ago. The network asked for a revised draft, which Cassidy couldn't complete before the work stoppage began.
January, 2008
According to the Hollywood Reporter and ComingSoon.net, Fox will begin casting a show that we first heard about from Shaun Cassidy in the 2003/2004 development season. The show, Inseparable, is a "modern day Jekyll and Hyde tale about a partially paralyzed forensic psychiatrist with a split personality whose alter ego is a charismatic criminal."
Apparently Fox bought this show after Mr. Cassidy pitched it (through his overall deal with ABC Studios) in the fall. Shaun apparently was working on getting a revised draft of the show to Fox when the writer's strike began. Fox, however, is getting a head start by greenlighting casting for the series in anticipation of receiving the revised draft for the show once the strike is settled. The following is the article from the Hollywood Reporter (the article from ComingSoon.net is a repeated synopsis of this same article so I'm just putting in the link above):
This is pilot season, WGA strike-style.
Fox has given the green light for casting to begin on the one-hour project "Inseparable" from "Invasion" creator Shaun Cassidy and ABC Studios.
However, the project has not been picked up to pilot, a process that has been stalled by the writers strike.
Cassidy first developed "Inseparable" -- a modern-day Jekyll and Hyde tale about a partially paralyzed forensic psychiatrist with a split personality whose alter ego is a charismatic criminal -- during the 2003-04 development season, when it was set up at CBS through Universal.
It was resurrected in the fall when Cassidy, through his overall deal at ABC Studios, pitched it to Fox before the strike.
The network bought it and asked for a revised draft. Before Cassidy was able to complete it, the writers walkout began.
At a showrunner rally at the gates of Walt Disney Studios in Burbank on Nov. 7, the third day of the strike, Cassidy told The Hollywood Reporter that he has several projects at ABC Studios that are now in "development freeze" (HR 11/8).
Two months later, the prolonged strike has wiped out this year's pilot season, and the duration of the stoppage is anybody's guess.
To get a head start when it's over, Fox is proceeding with casting on "Inseparable." But there will be no official pilot order to the project until the network sees Cassidy's new draft, which he will finish after the end of the strike.
CAA-repped Cassidy is in the first year of a two-year overall deal at ABC Studios, which has now been suspended because of the strike.
Cassidy previously created or co-created the series "American Gothic," "Players," "Roar" and "Cover Me" and executive produced CBS' "Cold Case" and "The Agency."
SHAUN ONSTAGE!!
Is Shaun Cassidy getting "the itch" to perform again?
Since the end of "Invasion" we haven't heard about any writing/productions coming from Shaun Cassidy Productions, but he seems to be popping up on the stage with more frequency!
On February 9 & 10, 2007 Shaun Cassidy played "Vince Fontaine" in a Hidden Hills Playhouse production of "Grease" called Gray Grease.
