5/16/06 - ABC OFFICIAL RELEASE OF FALL SCHEDULE

ABC today announced it's fall schedule for 2006.  Invasion is NOT on their renewal list.  Here is the official renewal list:

In addition to the new series, ABC has ordered season renewals for "Grey's Anatomy," "Lost," "Desperate Housewives," "Boston Legal," "Dancing with the Stars," "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," "George Lopez," "Supernanny," "What About Brian," "According to Jim," "America's Funniest Home Videos," "American Inventor," "The Bachelor" and "Wife Swap."

All hope however is not lost. There have been rumblings that the new network, CW (a hybrid *pardon the pun* from the merger of WB and UPN), could pick it up. The CW has their upfronts on Thursday.

Keep those fingers crossed!

5/12/06 - INVASION RENEWAL NEWS
From The Hollywood Reporter

From the network's returning series, the comedies "According to Jim" and "George Lopez" are said to be looking good to come back, with "Freddie" also a possibility. Things look grimmer on the drama side for "What About Brian" and "Invasion." If "Invasion" is not picked up at ABC, the sci-fi drama might be taken to the CW, sources said.

From San Jose Mercury News

Intriguing talk that popped up only in recent days: While a final decision hasn't been made, ABC is on the verge of ditching "Invasion'' (which has really come on strong at the end of the season with last night's episode a real grabber) but there is hope for fans of the show. The new CW is more than a little interested in picking up the series if ABC cuts it loose, possibly to pair with one of its established hits like "Supernatural.''

5/6/06 - INVASION DVD NEWS
From TVShowsonDVD.com

"It was exactly a month ago that we posted news that Invasion would be coming to DVD.  That news came from a TVGuide podcast featuring Shaun Cassidy, the creator of the series, and he mentioned a summer DVD release.

Well Cassidy was right; the set is coming on August 22, and the 6 disc set will include all 22 episodes from the first season of the series.  Our retail friends have told us that Warner Bros is advertising 50 minutes of extras, though we don't know what they'll be.  The set will sell for $59.98, but unfortnately that's all we have right now; we'll be sure to update you with any other information we come across.  For now we'll leave you with this look at the cover art: "

4/6/06 - Eddie Cibrian will make an appearance on Live with Regis and Kelly on April 18th.  Check your local listings for times! (many thanks to the Fichtner Firsthand Yahoo group for this info!)

3/23/06 - More great Invasion News!
According to Matt Rousch of TV Guide:
..."And despite my scoffing that Invasion would air a marathon on, of all places, ABC Family, that's exactly what's going to happen. On April 15, the Saturday before it returns with original episodes (in its Wednesday time slot as of April 19), ABC Family will air a 10-hour Invasion marathon starting at noon ET."

This is from Matt's "Ask Matt" Column on TVGuide.com.  If you would like to see the full article and would like the link to the page, go to the "People Are Talking" page on the Invasion Home Page.

3/22/06 - An inside source at the WB has told me that...hold your hats...although ABC has not announced anything officially, the production schedules show continued production of "Invasion" for next season!!  Of course, I will repeat this again, ABC has NOT announced this OFFICIALLY.  This is just information I received from someone that works at WB.  Take that as you will, but I trust the source.  Me....I'm tickled pink!!!

3/21/06 - Several different items in the "Invasion News" today!

First, and foremost....for the first time (I believe) last week's episode of "Invasion" ('The Key') BEAT "Lost" in the weekly ratings!!!!!!!!!  WTG Invasion!  Although the numbers aren't as I high as I would have hoped, they still beat "Lost" (ok, ok I know it was a repeat...but still!)  Check out the ratings page for all the info!
***************************
Second, I have a list of the dates and (most) of the episode titles until the end of the season.
4/19/06 Re-Evolution
4/26/06 Run and Gun
5/3/06 Riders On The Storm
5/10/06 The Son Also Rises
5/17/06 - ABC has announced that this is the season finale, but the title of the episode has not been released.

5 full weeks of Invasion in a row!  Whatever will we do! (Also wanted to let you know that "Lost's" 2 hour season finale will not be shown until the following week, May 24th...let's be thankful for small favors!)
****************************
Third, I do have more information, but I am awaiting confirmation before I say it...but if it is indeed true...Invasion fans REJOICE!

3/19/06 - From the Edmonton Journal (Canada.com):
I urge everyone who has questions as to the reasons "why" there are so many repeats/hiatuses during a series programming run to read this whole article.  The author, Alex Strachan, gives a very easy to understand explanation.  I'm only printing the information they have regarding Invasion:

INVASION: A new episode will air on March 15, followed by a month-long break. It will then air new episodes on April 19, 26 and May 3; beyond that, it's anyone's guess. A second season looks unlikely at this point, but stranger things have happened. In a world where Spalding, Sask.-native Kari Matchett can play a human-fish hybrid and make it seem believable, anything's possible.

3/4/06 - A report from TVShowsonDVD about Invasion:

Invasion - On the Way, Creator Says
Posted by David Lamert

Invasion creator Shaun Cassidy was interviewed for the TVGuide podcast which was posted yesterday (episode #39).  At about 17 minutes, 20 seconds into the podcast, Cassidy mentions that there will be a First Season DVD Set of Invasion that will be ready to hit stores this Summer.  He's feeling reasonably confident that the show will get renewed, based on ABC's public comments supporting the program, and hopes that the DVD set will help promote the second season.  Our thanks to Brandon, one of our readers, for letting us know about the comments on the podcast.  Stay tuned for more info when the studio announces this product.

3/4/06 - Many thanks to Val of Val's Unofficial Shaun Cassidy Site for the heads-up on the following:

From Ohio.com:
Something From the Mail

Last week the mail included a DVD of a new episode of ''Invasion'' due to air next Wednesday. It also had a letter from executive producer Shaun Cassidy, which I didn't read at first. When I got around to it today, I remembered what a likable guy Cassidy is. Here's the letter (and don't forget to read the P.S.):

Dear All,

This is a big thank you note for all the incredible support you've given Invasion. We love our show, we love making it, and we're glad you do too. Here's a little DVD sneak peek of next week's episode -- still rough of course (temp FX, temp music) -- and if you hear the Executive Producer's voice pop up occasionally, that's just to remind you of why he's no longer an actor.

Hope you enjoy, and thanks again.

Shaun Cassidy

P.S. If you should be one of the few who have not been incredibly supportive of Invasion, please enjoy this complimentary coaster

3/2/06 - GREAT NEWS Although not confirmed by "offical" sources at ABC (and probably won't be until May) Michele at Ryan Cassidy's site has received word that "it’s not 100% for certain yet but it looks like INVASION WILL BE PICKED UP FOR ANOTHER SEASON.  Now, remember – this isn’t 100% certain but this is they way things are looking."  You can check back on Ryan's "News" page for further information as it becomes available, or on this news page.

2/28/06 - According to ABCMediaNet, Invasion will return to the ABC schedule on April 19th at 10:00 p.m.  Yep, you heard right, Invasion has not switched nights and/or times.  It will, however, for the first week back, be out from under the shadow of Lost.  ABC is bringing back the series "Alias", which will air a special 2 hour (8-10:00p.m.) episode on April 19th.  It will be interesting to see how well Invasion does without the Lost lead in.  Will it help or hurt?  Only time will tell!  The lineup with change (not affecting Lost or Invasion) when Alias joins the Wednesday night ABC lineup at 8:00 p.m until it's series finale.

2/3/06 - As most of you have already heard (or seen if you've been to the home page of this site), Invasion will be going on hiatus when a new show, "The Evidence" comes in as a mid-season replacement on March 22nd at 10pm.  There are voluminous media sources (of course) reporting this, along with all the other changes that ABC is making during March.

Rather than try and figure out which media source has the right information, I will let you know that I have it from a pretty reliable source that this is the way it will be:  'Invasion will air new episodes on February 8th and 15th and March 8th and 15th.  The episodes airing on February 22 and March 1 will be repeats.  Invasion will return with all new episodes sometime in April to finish out the season, although there is no word yet on an exact date.'

Figuring that after the March 15th episode there will be 5 episodes left of the originally ordered 22, it would make sense that Invasion returns to the schedule sometime mid-to-late April thereby allowing Invasion to finish their season during the May sweeps.

I will post more information as I get it.

1/31/06 - www.tv.com and www.tvguide.com are both reporting a name change to the 2/15/06 episode of Invasion.  Originally titled "The Camp", it is now being listed as "The Nest".  I do not know if this is a name change or if this is a totally different episode.

1/31/06 - Congratulations to William Fichtner and the cast of the movie "Crash" on their SAG award as Best Cast in a Motion Picture and also for the movie's nods (including Best Picture) for the upcoming Academy Awards (to be televised March 5th).

1/22/06 - Invasion wins an online award!
From TV.com(thanks to Sharry at Shaunshine [see the spc links page] for the heads-up on this!)
Best Science Fiction Show
Science fiction is a genre unlike any other. Rabid fans, incomprehensible jargon, and incredibly convoluted plotlines are just a few of the things we love about this fantastically broad corner of the TV universe. Of course, every so often, an inferior specimen will attempt to join the hallowed group, and that's when lists like this one become even more important. Button up your space suit and take a seat beside us on our ergonomic couch for a journey into the best of 2005...

Having just premiered this fall season, Invasion was given quite a sweet spot within the TV lineup, airing right after ABC blockbuster Lost. This sci-fi drama has a leg up on some of the competition, as it appeals to both science fiction fans and drama fans. The show focuses on the strange aftermath in a small Florida town after a massive hurricane. Mysterious lights are seen in the town lake, an otherworldly skeleton is discovered, some hurricane victims are found naked but alive (and not quite themselves, as they have a fascination with water and frequently gaze off into the distance), and strange armored vehicles are seen loading up boxes of who-knows-what and taking them to a restricted military base. A local reporter and her family get in over their heads when taking on the town sheriff, the military, and anyone else when investigating just exactly what is going on… Invasion trudges on, pulling viewers in with each twist and turn!

1/22/06 - From SciFiWireABC Sticks With Invasion
Stephen McPherson, president, ABC Entertainment, told reporters that the network's SF series Invasion, created by Shaun Cassidy, isn't going away. Just yet.

"Invasion, you know, is a show that I think is doing the best work it's ever done. It is a great, great television show," McPherson said in a news conference at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour in Pasadena, Calif., on Jan. 21. McPherson expressed confidence in the show, about alien influences in a small Florida town in the wake of a disastrous hurricane, despite the series' lackluster ratings in the wake of its Wednesday-night lead-in, the megahit Lost.

For his part, Invasion's executive producer Cassidy told SCI FI Wire that he thinks ABC will stay with the show. "I'm cautiously optimistic that they'll recognize the incredible quality of our program," he said in an interview, with tongue slightly in cheek. "I think they do, actually. My theory about our timeslot is that ... following Lost has been a good-news, bad-news proposition for us. And I wouldn't have said this six months ago, because I would have thought, 'Well, it's fantastic. What could be bad?' Here's what I think could be bad: You have a very intelligent, dense, novel-like show in Lost. I would venture to say in all humility our show is very similar in that sense. I think it requires a great deal of commitment on the part of any audience member to sit for two and sometimes three hours, because they run Lost at 8 often. Writers on my own staff say to me, when I ask on Thursday morning, 'Did you see the show last night?' 'Well, no, because I watched Lost and then I was so tired. I Tivo'd it.' L.A. Weekly said we're the number-one Tivo show in America, and I think it might be true. ... I think our show might actually benefit from being on a different night."

As to whether ABC might actually consider moving Invasion, Cassidy added: "They talked to me about moving after we premiered. Not like, 'We're going to move you.' But the conversation has always been, 'Is this a good thing or a bad thing?' Nobody was really sure."

In another context, McPherson said: "It may be the reality that what's compatible with Lost is a lighter viewing experience, either before it or after it." Invasion airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

12/20/05 - From the futon critic"Revelation," the third "Lost" recap episode, is due to broadcast on Wednesday, January 11 at 8:00/7:00c as a lead-in to its first fresh installment of 2005 ("The 23rd Psalm") at 9:00/8:00c. New episodes of "Invasion" ("Us or Them") also resume that night at 10:00/9:00c.

12/12/05 - NEW INVASION EPISODES LISTED!!
TVGuide.com is reporting the next new episodes of Invasion will be "Us or Them" airing January 11, 2006 and "Power" airing January 18, 2006.

12/9/05
From the National Ledger in Arizona comes the news of casting for Invasion.
"And on ABC's "Invasion," they're casting a double amputee actor who must be comfortable working with special effects makeup for an upcoming episode."
The article was about casting people with disabilities in shows and movies.  If you'd like view the full article, click on the link.

VERY IMPORTANT NEWS REGARDING INVASION'S DECEMBER SCHEDULE!!!!!

According to thefutoncritic:
Thursday, November 17, 2005 - 5:20 PM
'Alias' to Follow 'Lost' in December, Return in Spring
By Brian Ford Sullivan

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- ABC isn't giving up on "Alias" quite yet.

The network is expected to formally announce tomorrow plans to move the series to Wednesdays at 10:00/9:00c following "Lost" beginning December 7. The two-week stunt will mark the show's final broadcasts before returning for the latter half of its fifth season sometime in the spring.

As for "Alias's" current Thursday, 8:00/7:00c home, movies and other specials will fill the slot beginning next week with "Dancing With the Stars" taking over on January 5.

"Invasion," the current Wednesday, 10:00/9:00c time period holder, will return on December 21.

ABC however hasn't firmed up if the December 7 or December 14 broadcasts of "Lost" will be originals or repeats.

Either way the added exposure should help the series, which is currently averaging 7.09 million viewers on Thursday nights. Last season, "Alias" averaged 10.27 million viewers in the post-"Lost" time period.

Eddie Cibrian (Russell Varon on Invasion) will be a presenter on the 2005 American Music Awards on Tuesday, November 22nd 8:00 - 10:00 p.m. on ABC.

VERY VERY EXCITING!
From Netflix:

Sooooo...I'm browsing through Netflix and I'm looking for movies with William Fichtner (Sheriff Tom) in them.  It gives me a list of movies...and the second entry down is...

Invasion: Season 1 (2005)

Ex-teen heartthrob Shaun Cassidy produces this heart-thumping drama, following the efforts of a park ranger (Eddie Cibrian) to rescue his family after a hurricane pummels their small Florida town. At first, his daughter's mention of the strange lights she saw offshore seems to mean nothing, but as the plot thickens, her sighting takes on more significance. Are they under alien attack, or is there another explanation for the mysterious presence?
Rated NR    Not rated. This movie has not been rated by the MPAA.

Now, I'm not sure how accurate this is, but since Netflix has it on their listing as a future release (which you can "save" and put in your queue for when it is released) it seems to me that ABC/WB/ShaunCassidyProductions plan on releasing "Invasion" on DVD at the end of the season or the beginning of next (ABC ususally releases it right before the new season starts).  Pretty cool!  I'll keep you informed as I receive more info!

VERY COOL NEWS!
From TVWeek:
ABC has picked up dramas "Commander in Chief" and "Invasion" for the full season, while NBC is cutting back on its order for the midseason drama "The Book of Daniel" to seven episodes, down from its original 13-episode order.

Tuesday night's presidential drama "Chief" and the alien-themed "Invasion" on Wednesdays are each getting their back-nine episode orders, giving them full 22-episode debut seasons.

"Chief," which recently saw creator Rod Lurie leave the series for veteran writer Steven Bochco, is a production of Touchtone Television. "Invasion" is from Shaun Cassidy Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television Production.

"Daniel," the story of a pill-addled Episcopal minister who sees visions of Jesus, was not picked up by the network until months after the network's May upfront presentation, the time when NBC traditionally announces its series pickups.

"Daniel" is a NBC Universal Television Studio and Sony Pictures Television production. Jack Kenny and Flody Suarez executive produce.

Just a reminder that ABC will NOT be repeating the October 19th Invasion episode "Unnatural Selection" on Saturday night!  ABC has resumed its regularly scheduled "Saturday Night Movie".  Make sure you watch it tonight! (Or tape it!)

Looks like ABC is going to be showing repeats of "Invasion" on Saturdays for the near future!  Ep. 3 - "Watershed" will be shown on Wednesday, October 5th at 10:00 p.m. and will then be repeated on Saturday, October 8th at 9:00 p.m.  Ep. 4 - "Alpha Male" will be shown on Wednesday, October 12th at 10:00 p.m. and repeated on Saturday, October 15th at 9:00 p.m.

According to ABC.com, the alphabet network will re-run the Pilot and first regular episode ("Lights Out") on Saturday, October 1st.  The two episodes will run back to back as a "movie" from 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. eastern/pacific times.
