.answers

  1. What is this all about? We are located in the realm of Rhy'Din in the lands of Dragonstrom.
  2. What is "Rhy'Din?" Most people call Rhy'Din a text-based massively-multiplayer online role-playing games. In fact, Rhy'Din was definitely one of the originals, dating back to about 1994. Some people also consider Rhy'Din a chat-based writing community, or a series of never-ending books with a seemingly never-ending list of authors. Indeed, Rhy'Din does qualify as a role-playing game, a writing community, and a huge book series.
  3. Can I role-play in Rhy'Din? Of course you can, providing that you use AOL. If you do, you can find Rhy'Din in the member made section of the Arts and Entertainment directory of chat rooms. If you don't, then the most you'll see is the private rooms that you can get into via AIM and by being invited by your Rhy'Din-playing, AOL-using friend.
  4. How do I role-play in Rhy'Din? Simple! There are a few different techniques, but there does seem to be a standard procedure. Everything inside action brackets [EXAMPLE ::walks in wearing purple pants::] is, obviously, an action. Everything inside out of character brackets [EXAMPLE ((hey, Bill, your character is cool!))] is, also aptly named, out of character. And last of all, everything without brackets is what your character is saying [EXAMPLE ::the knight paced back and forth before yelling out of frustration:: Stand down, Man, we have you surrounded! ((hey, I might have to leave in a few minutes, Roger))]. There isn't much to it! Just be sure to be very, very descriptive, as if you really were writing a book.
  5. What is Dragonstrom VRPE? In Rhy'Din, one of the most common forms of fighting is by using dice. Of course, there are certain groups who moderate the dice and the level at which one progresses from one dice to the next with experience. These groups are called "forums," and Dragonstrom VRPE is definitely one of the best out there!
  6. I still don't get what "Ascentia" is. Any more clues? In the lands of Dragonstrom VRPE, there are the good, the neutral, and the evil. The good people live in Ascentia, the neutral people live in Fauldar, and the evil live in Demor. Think of it like three different states inside one country.
  7. How do I join Ascentia or Dragonstrom VRPE? We're glad you're ready to join the hundreds of other gamers who are already members! Just go to www.dragonstrom.com/vrpe, go to "Forms," and then select either the "Freelance Application" to join the forum but not necessarily any particular guild, click "Guild Application" to create or register a guild of your own, or just join any one of the already exhistant guilds that are members of Dragonstrom VRPE (you can view them by going to Citizens and selecting Guilds).
  8. But why should I join Ascentia instead of Fauldar or Demor? A wise question indeed. Fauldar and Demor both have about twenty-five guilds, some of which with more than a hundred members. However, Ascentia is much lesser in population, having only a few guilds that call it home. If you want to be at all different, then don't kidd yourself by joining Fauldar or Demor because Ascentia will be the place for you. By nature, Ascentia is great for artists, too, so you know that your life will be richer than if you decided to live in the stale fortresses of Fauldar or Demor. Be unique! Join Ascentia today!
  9. What if I'm already in a guild outside of Ascentia? Everybody can be in as many guilds as they want. However, most characters who are in evil guilds shouldn't also be in holy guilds, or vice-versa. Then again, the choice is yours (permitting that the commander of the guild you want to join accepts you)!
  10. What if I'm already in a forum other than Dragonstrom VRPE? To make sure everything is kept fair, if you want to have a dice transfer, you'll have to seek the appropriate Dragonstrom High Council member to get that done. Otherwise, you'll have to start all over. But remember that you can always keep your other forum's dice; just don't confuse the die!
