Welcome!

Welcome to the IDIA website! We are an organisation devoted to the improvement of the Night Elven city of Darnassus in the virtual world of Azeroth, part of the Warcraft Universe and featured within the MMORPG World of Warcraft.

We see Darnassus as a city that is frankly sub-standard compared the Blizzard's other efforts in city design. As we feel that Darnassus has much potential and that Night Elves are one of the most interesting races in the game, the sheer lack of effort has put into designing this city is unsatisfactory. Furthermore, Night Elves are the most popular race on Azeroth, on some servers being more numerous than the entire Horde, and these players are not being serviced adequately by their atrocious capital. Some Night Elven players are so averse to playing in Kalimdor that they spend a long period of their starter game-time running across areas of the Eastern Kingdoms with vastly superior monsters just to reach the other Alliance cities.

We seek to push for the total redesigning of Darnassus, or at least it being improved. In order to bring this better Darnassus into being and to inspire the Blizzard designers, we make detailed and well thought out suggestions as to what needs to be fixed and how.

          Site Guide

The Expanded Darnassus page shows the Eternal City as it could be if it were simply improved to a level consistent with that of the other Alliance cities (i.e. Ironforge, Stormwind.). Rather than it being totally rebuilt, this page shows how extra buildings and a redistribution of zones and NPCs could seriously improve the city.

The Darnassus Reworked page shows Darnassus as we would like to see it if it were to be completely redesigned and rebuilt. This, though entailing more work for Blizzard, would in our opinion be preferable, due to the fact that Darnassus should be representative of the Night Elven people, fun and useful, as we believe our version is. With it being completely redesign, we hope that the real Darnassus would better fulfill these requirements.

21/12/2005 - Well, after a long period of neglecting this site (I moved to the Horde unfortunately *blushes*), I'm finally ready to start doing this again! There have been some successes over the past few month's I would like to report. Firstly, when scout units were implemented (in order to detect stealthed player characters.) Darnassus was given huntresses, a suggestion of ours. Secondly, the mailbox has been moved to outside the bank, which is much more convenient, along with some added aesthetic touches, like the addition of a glaive thrower and some caravans outside of Darnassus. Also, the linkage of all party and trade channels in cities, and addition of Auction Houses to all cities has occurred, or will do next patch. Finally, there are rumours that Blizzard intend on completely redesigning Darnassus in the upcoming Expansion of World of Warcraft, the Burning Crusade.
