About the Show

Surfing Artists International will hold its 7th annual “Art of Surfing Festival” located at the historic Music Pier on the boardwalk in Ocean City, New Jersey.
The festival celebrates the sport of surfing as a true art form, recognizing the past, present and future influences of the surfing lifestyle. Noseride or Aerial, Longboard or Shortboard, Woody or Element, its all good!
Surfing art has become recognized all over the world. It is not only known in the surf world but is now making a major impact on the art world. There are more and more painters, photographers, musicians, sculptors, and film directors that are being influenced by surfing lifestyle. Through their art they express shared feelings and ways of life that are important to a surfer, such as respect, tolerance, freedom, conservation and a mutual passion for the ocean.
In 2001 we had our first ever annual "Art of Surfing Festival". The first festival packed the gallery and spilled out onto the sidewalk for the largest show to date. The "ASF" featured art, music, film, and literature from surfers all over the USA. The annual show has quickly become the most successful and well attended event Sagemore has ever had. After 2 years it grew to the point that it could no longer be held at the gallery, but must be moved to the 4,500 plus square foot Music Pier. The Music Pier is located on the Ocean City boardwalk & extends out over the beach & ocean. Every August over 5,000 families converge on the Music Pier to take part in what has become the largest event of it's kind on the East Coast.
