In 1984 ago my family and I washed ashore on Cape Cod. We worked and raised our children and were as distracted as everyone else by the business of everyday life, although we were always aware that we had landed in a very special place. Then, about 10 years ago, I decided to take a drawing class at the Cape Cod Art Association. As so many people before me have been, I was swept up in the tide created by the convergence of the natural beauty of the Cape and the colony of artists already swimming in it, who are so willing to share their talent, enthusiasm and expertise with others.
I have been painting in oil, pastel and watercolor for the past eight years. I have studied with Janet Gilmore, Janet Barker, and John Dimestico, and briefly with Lois Griffel, Charles Sovek, Lillia Frantin and Herb Edwards. I am drawn to dramatic light effects, color, pattern and design. I like to paint people, landscapes with architectural elements, and animals. I am inspired by my Cape Cod home as well as by my recent travels to France, Italy, Ireland, Spain and the Southwest. Lately I have also turned my painterly eye to the art of creating jewelry and printed images.
