Young and the Restless
Colleen Carlton is the daughter of Brad Carlton/George Kaplan and Traci Abbott Connelly. She was born on-screen in 1992 and in 2001, resurfaced as a rebillious teenager. She made friends with some of the local girls, including Lily Winters and began a romance with JT Hellstrom. At first, Colleen's family was wary of the slightly older JT as he had a bad track record with women, but they eventually accepted the relationship. When Lily began dating Kevin Fisher, Colleen told her parents of when the relationship turned sexual, which was statutory rape. In retaliation, Kevin trapped Colleen in Gina Roma's restaurant and started a fire. Colleen survived, and remained distrustful of Kevin, who had expertly hidden his crimes.
In 2004, Colleen left Genoa City for New York because she felt she was getting in the way of JT's budding music career. She returned in early 2006 expecting to reunite with him, but he had moved on with Mackenzie Browning. She also was shocked to learn that Kevin had now been accepted by most of the community, Lily included. After Mac left town, Colleen and JT reconciled. She was soon devastated by the loss of her grandfather John Abbott, who died of a massive stroke. She was further rocked by the revelation that her father had assumed the name of Brad Carlton, and was in fact the son of Holocaust survivor and art historian Rebecca Kaplan. The majority of the Kaplan family was killed because Rebecca had made it her life's work to return artwork stolen by the Nazis.
Following her grandmother's lead, Colleen began to study art history in college with Professor Adrian Korbel. It became apparent to both that this was more than a student/teacher relationship, much to the chagrin of the still in hiding Kaplans and her boyfriend JT. Colleen used Professor Korbel's knowledge to help solve the mystery of the Grudgeon Reliquary, the artifact that lead to the Kaplan family's murder. Despite her family's objections and a growing possibility that Korbel was involved in the murder of Newman Enterprises executive Carmen Mesta (Marisa Ramirez), Colleen and Adrian fell in love and continued their relationship in secret.
Since breaking up with JT, she and Adrian have tried to maintain a relationship, but her family and JT have thrown up several roadblocks. After Adrian nearly lost his job, they attempted to feign a break up and continue to see each other, but Sharon Newman discovered them and told Brad who as a result, cut Colleen off financially, though Colleen soon overcame this obstacle with a loan from her Uncle Jack.
Adrian has since left his job at Genoa City University and is writing a book about the treasure found at Kutna Hora, revolving around the story of Colleen's family and the Grugeon Reliquary. He is also busy at work as an architectural consultant on the Clear Springs project with Victoria Newman. Their relationship is now public and accepted by many.
