Quite soon after Sandels had joined my household, I resumed my plans to get a purebred cat to keep Sandels company and to cuddle up and purr under my other, yet free arm. =) After thorough research, consideration, and hanging out at cat shows, I concluded that the Siberian cat suited us. Then I saved money and waited for the right time and the right kitten. Sandels got a fine present on his first birthday when I fetched a handsome blue mackerel tabby boy from Amante's cattery in Helsinki. The kittie laddie's official name is so long that he is familiarly called Otto. Or Otto-gatto, Ottokar Dumba, Turbo Tiger, or Fuzzyhead.

The WMD combination known as the Bouncing Bazooka and the Meowing Missile became fast friends in one night. Sandels instantly adopted the role of big brother and began to take care of Otto by washing him and teaching him all sorts of Important Things, such as pawing at the balcony door to get there at 5 am, digging into the flowerpots, and generally bouncing and careening around the house. And the bag fetish. Bags are unfathomably fascinating; they are fun to dig into, their contents must always be checked, and a nap is so nice on just the bag which "Mama" meant to take to go shopping for delicacies for Their Catnesses. The bad habits involving balcony doors and flowerpots stopped when Masters Cats understood that nothing good came of such pursuits, but bags are still in.
16 months, 6 kg, and perfect balance.Otto learnt this entirely without Santtu's help!
Otto is even more companionable than Santtu. The young fellow participates in everything possible - and impossible! - and is not content to merely observe nearby. Be it baking, dishes, laundry, sweeping the floors, proofreading, or whisky tasting, it will take Otto but a nanosecond to appear in the midst of the action: in the dough bowl, in the kitchen sink, on the laundry machine, in the dustpan, on the keyboard, and in the cardboard container of the single malt bottle... Another happy Sib owner informed me that I had just made my life "a complete hassle" by my choice of breed - but she forgot to mention that this hassle is highly addictive! I couldn't possibly manage without this big, fluffy teddybear of a tom, who climbs up to my lap the moment I arrive home from work, and participates my domestic activities by lounging on my shoulders like a fur wrap, purrrrring fierrrrrcely. The wrap weighs 6,5 kilos, but never mind - it's a workout for shoulder muscles!

Apart from domestic activities, Otto's hobbies include cat shows. Otto is available for dates with suitable Siberian cat ladies, and therefore it is good to hear judges' opinions regarding his development. "Mama" enjoys shows chiefly because she gets to meet more cat people and talk about cats to her heart's content, without thoroughly boring those of her friends who aren't quite that much into cats... The public has the opportunity to get to know different cat breeds and perhaps find the breed that is most to their liking. Otto enjoys being admired by public and judges alike, and he gets excellent results.
"Shoo! Can't you see I'm working here?
