Homemade Glimmer Mist
You will need:
Small empty spray bottle holding approx 100-125ml
Mica power (Perfect Pearls, Pearlex or similar)
Powdered Gum Arabic (avaliable from cake decorating suppliers)
Method:
Add 1 tsp powdered Gum Arabic and 1tsp of the colour mica powder you want to the empty spray bottle. Fill to within 1/2 unch of the top with warm water. It must be warm or it will not mix right. Shake vigerously. Shake well before each use.
Homemade Crackle Paint
You will need:
Acrylic paint
White Glue
Method:
Paint your surface with Acrylic paint and allow to dry comletely. This is the base coat. Mix some white glue with a little water and paint over the paint with a light coat. While the glue is still slightly wet, carefully brush on a top coat of paint in a colour that contrasts with the base coat. Paint lightly and in one direction only. do not go over the same area twice. Allow to dry and cracks will appear letting the base coat show through.
Homemade Decoupage Medium
You will need:
White glue
Method:
Mix together equal parts white glue and water. Mix well. The mixture should be milky and a little thick but not too runny.
Image Transfer Techniques
Packing Tape Transfers
Make a black & whilte or colour photocopy of the image. Reversing if necessary. Lay a piece of packing tape sticky side down onto the image. Use a bone folder to burnish over the image to make sure it is stuck to the tape. Imerse the image in a shallow bowl of water for up to 15 minutes. Remove the image and pat it dry with kitchen paper. Use your fingers to carefully rubb off the paper from the packing tape. If the paper is hard to get off run it under a tap for a minute and try again. Rub gently so as not to remove all the image from the packing tape.
