Our History

Arriva Premiere

 

Premiere were founded in 1992, by Joan Largue and Diane Taylor.  As Joan has danced since she was young, firstly for Southdene Sherries and finished with Zodiacs morris dancers, she takes responsibility for training the teams and Diane runs the financial/secretarial side of things.

 

They began in a hall in Kirkby but moved to Fazakerley for a short while to encourage new starters.  As most of the girls where from Kirkby however, they moved back and have practised there ever since on a Wednesday evening starting at 6 pm for the younger troupes.  Initially they had 3 troupes consisting of Tinies Juniors and Seniors, this has grown over the years and has developed into 5 main troupes: Babies, Dinkies, Tinies, Juniors and Seniors.  Plus a further two novice troupes of babies and tinies.  The ages of the dancers range between 3 and 28 years.

 

Premiere are non profit making organisation and therefore any fundraising or sponsorship pays for the costumes however, in 2002, with the help of Nick Halsall and Phil Smith, they were fortunate to secure a sponsorship deal with the Bus Company 'Arriva' who now provide transport for every competition they attend! Hence, they are now known as ARRIVA PREMIERE.

 

Arriva Premiere Morris dancers mainly compete in the association ETACCO and have enjoyed many successes over the years.
