~~2008 "A Tale that is Told" Writing Contest~~

NOTE: You must be a member of the Writer's Bloc group to be eligible to enter the contest.

 

Rules:

 

You must send your contest entry in the body of the e-mail to Lydia Rule. Please do not post your entry on the Writer’s Bloc Yahoo group.

 

-The story’s theme must be Christian and based off of the verse:

 

      Psalm 90:9a

…we spend our years as a tale that is told.

 

          This is open to interpretation. However this verse inspires you to write is up to your own discretion. You can include the verse in your story or you can just use the verse as a theme for your story. What’s your tale? And how will you tell it? What story can you come up with from the vast regions of imagination?

 

-Word count must be under 2000 words

 

-No inappropriate language or scenes.

 

-One submission per person.

 

-Story must have beginning, middle, and end. Please give your story a title.

 

Deadlines:

 

Story must be submitted by March 30th, 2008

Votes must be submitted by April 20th, 2008

 

Judging:

 

     All contest entries will be posted by Lydia Rule on the Writer’s Bloc yahoo group. The contest entries will be numbered and will not contain the author’s name in order to ensure unbiased voting.

 

     Every member of the Writer’s Bloc group can vote for their favorite contest entry.

 

     Those who entered the contest automatically gains one vote for their own entry, and they can also submit one vote for another person’s entry.

 

      Votes must be sent to Lydia Rule for tallying.

Deadline: March 31 (Editor's Note: The deadline has been extended to April 5th)

First Prize: The winning devotional will be published on the Writer's Bloc website AND Real Teen Faith. The author will retain all rights to the winning piece.

Second Place: Publication on the Writer's Bloc Website. Again, all rights will belong to the author.

Rules:

1) Only one devotional submission per person.

2) Stay below 500 words.

3) Have fun!

Submission guidelines:

Send your contest entry to Lydia Rule. DO NOT POST your contest entry on the Writer's Bloc Yahoo! group. Send your submission in the body of the e-mail- no attachments please!

Judging:

1) After the deadline (March 31), each of the contest entries will be assigned a number and posted on the Writer's Bloc Yahoo! group. The author's name will be concealed to ensure unbiased judging.

2) All Writer's Bloc members will then vote for their favorite entry. You may not vote for your own submission. Votes must be sent to either Lydia or Nathan by April 14th.

3) The votes will be tallied and the winner will be announced as soon as possible.

The 2006 SHC Describe-It! Contest:

(Editor's note: This Contest is now over.)


       This year's contest is going to be all about (can you guess?) description! How well can you depict a
sunset, mountaintop, snowstorm, or a flower? Can you make the reader feel the soft breeze of summer or the
harsh bite of winter through words? You can pick what your subject will be about.

GUIDELINES:

*Make sure to keep it short (around 400 words).

*No multiple submissions! (Sorry!)

*The deadline to submit entries is August 29 (Tuesday).

*After the entry deadline, all submissions will be placed on the Writer's Bloc Yahoo Group. The author's name will not
appear on the entries so the judging will be unbiased. Everyone is entitled to vote on which entry is the best.
You may not vote for your own entry.

*Winners will be posted under the "Contest Winners" link on this website.
