Piper Halliwell, the middle sister, is exciting, highly emotional and very much alive. She can be dedicated, driven, spontaneous, or cautious. She is terribly big hearted and capable of great fellowship and devotion. Even though she can be shy and unassuming, she has many friends and truly is the life of the party, if not the planner. Piper is loyal and can keep a secret. The worst thing in the world to Piper Halliwell is the sound of two people engaged in an argument and she will do everything to avoid conflicts. Her good nature and big heart won't allow for competition with her siblings. Piper just wants everyone to get along and be happy, preferably in her presence. Paige was adopted by a loving family and had a good childhood. Nevertheless, she began cutting classes and drinking heavily in high school. It took her parents' deaths in a car crash to get her to finally clean up her act. She turned her life around, quit drinking, went to college, and got a job in social services. Paige was excited when she found out she had sisters, but apprehensive on learning she was a witch. Her impulsive and headstrong behavior make it a bit difficult to follow the magical rules that her sisters set up for her. Nevertheless, she has accepted her role as a Charmed One, and has even moved into the Manor.

Leo's tendency to follow the rules is in complete contrast to the Charmed Ones' tendency to break them. Nevertheless, Piper and Leo managed to stay together and finally got married (once the Elders gave their blessings).

Cole Turner first came into the Charmed Ones' lives when he was sent by the Evil Triad to destroy them. The son of a demon and a human, he also had a demonic side named Belthazor. Using his human form, Cole posed as an assistant district attorney and attempted to get close to Phoebe in order to kill her, but fell in love with her instead. Phoebe fell in love back, and even after she found out he was evil she could not vanquish him. Instead, she convinced him to give up his demonic ways and even created a potion that conquered his demonic half.
