Types of Lingerie

Brassieres

Commonly known as a bra they are a woman’s most common piece of lingerie. They give breasts support and enhance your appearance.

Types of bras are:
Push up Bra

  • Even the smallest breasts can be enhanced with this bra. They add breast size with added padding inside the cups (which can be removed), giving the appearance of more voluptuous cleavage.

Demi-Cup or Shelf Bras

  • This supportive bra covers only the bottom portion of the breasts and exposes the nipple. Great for low cut tops.

Underwired Bra

  • Especially suitable for larger breasted women, it is a supportive bra with a slim wire sewn into the bottom portion of the cups for added support.

Minimizer Bra

  • Designed to make breasts look smaller. Suitable for large breasted women to help fit certain types of clothing fit better or create a more professional (less distracting) appearance.
Bustier
  • A bustier is a sexy strapless bra that goes down to the waist with garter straps attached. It is made with a silk or other kind of shiny material. The look is exotic, and can be worn with or without panties.

Corset

  • Tight fitting and made of a stiff material, a corset cinches the waist and lifts up breasts. It is held in place by adjustable lacing in the back. Sometimes garter straps are attached to the bottom as an added feature.

Panties

Womens everyday panties come in different cuts and styles. Depending on your preference and comfort level, there is a selection for everyone.

Bikinis

  • A type of panty sits on the hip, and fully covers the front and rear.

Briefs (or boy short panties)

  • Are designed to sit on the waist, and are similar to shorts.

Flutter panties

  • Sit on the waist and have elastic at the top, but are loose and frilly at the bottom.
Tap pants
  • It is also known by the names of French knickers, side-cut shorts, and dance shorts.

Thongs and G-String Panties

  • Thongs are panties that only cover the front and leave your bottom exposed, covered only by a thin strip of material.
  • G-Strings are similar, except there is only a thin, stretchable string covering your backside.
Babydoll
  • A babydoll is a short nightgown or negligee intended as nightwear for women. The garment is often trimmed with lace, ruffles, appliques, bows and ribbons, optionally with spaghetti straps. Sometimes it is made of sheer or translucent fabric like nylon or chiffon or silk. The garment's hemline is usually about six inches above the knee like a minidress and may have a scoop-neck. They are usually considered provocative. It is now a highly eroticized item of adult apparel, often classified as a form of lingerie.
Babydoll nightie
  • This cute little number is usually a short gown with a built in, bra-like cups with a loose flowing skirt. The baby doll nightie could be made of silk, nylon or a sheer material, depending on your preference.

Camisole
  • A cami or camisole is a woman's undergarment which covers the top part of the body. It is sleeveless and tight fitting in contrast to a loose-fitting babydoll or chemise. This is a short, loose fitting top that has a length that goes to the waist. It can be worn like a slip underneath a wool sweater, beneath an open jacket, or just as it is with a pair of matching panties. The materials of choice in which they are manufactured are satin or silk, or stretch materials such as lycra, nylon, or spandex.A camisole can be worn over a brassiere or without one. Some camisoles come with a built-in underwire bra which eliminates the need for a bra among those who prefer one.
Negligee
  • The negligee is a form of womenswear intended for wear at night and in the bedroom. It is a form of nightgown.
Petticoat
  • Also known as an underskirt, it is a undergarment to be worn under a skirt or a dress. The petticoat refers to skirt-like undergarments worn for warmth or to give the skirt or dress the desired fashionable shape.
Slip
  • Worn underneath skirts, dresses and blouses to prevent these garments from being see-through, which would result in unwanted attention.
  • A slip is a woman's undergarment worn beneath a dress or skirt to help it hang smoothly and to prevent chafing of the skin from coarse fabrics such as wool. Slips are also worn for warmth, and to protect fine fabrics from perspiration.
  • A full slip hangs from the shoulders, usually by means of narrow straps, and extends from the breast to the fashionable skirt length. A half slip hangs from the waist, and may also be called a waist slip or petticoat. Slips are usually made of a smooth and slippery fabric such as silk, satin, polyester, or nylon and may be decorated with lace at the edges. They are typically worn over more intimate undergarments. Slips are also worn for modesty under translucent outer garments. A half slip may be worn with a matching camisole as an alternative to a full slip.
Stockings and Pantyhose

The sheerness of both stockings and pantyhose are measured in 'denier'. The lower the denier number the sheerer the garment. Those knitted with a higher denier tend to be less sheer but more durable. Examples of denier are 15 (standard sheer) up to 30 (semi opaque) until 100 (opaque).

  • A stocking is a close-fitting, variously elastic garment covering the foot and lower part of the leg, but usually not intended to conceal the leg.
Stockings are typically supported in one of three ways.
  1. The most common way is to wear a garter belt  that goes around the waist and drops extensions that are clipped to the tops of the stockings. Not to be worn with pants!! The garter belt is worn directly on the skin around the waist. Sexy stockings or thigh-highs can be attached to the belt with the 4 to 8 straps that dangle from this exotic item. To complement the look, wear a sexy matching bra (or not!!).
  2. The second most common means of support is via 'stay-up' technology, where the inside of the top of the stockings has added to it a band (typically silicone) of elastic but highly tractive material that resists slipping down the thigh. This is considerably less reliable in the sense of assuring that the stockings do not fall down, and depends a great deal on the geometry of the actual leg. Further, the elastic can be uncomfortably tight, leaving red marks and possibly aggravating varicose veins.
  3. The least common means of support is the circular elastic garter that is slipped up over the top of the stocking and which is intended to hold the stocking by essentially clamping it to the leg. These are the garters typically seen at weddings. They have much the same disadvantages as 'stay-ups'.
  • Pantyhose are sheer, close fitting coverings of the body from the waist to the feet that are an alternative to stockings.
Pantyhose are available in a wide range of popular styles, a few of them are:

Fishnet pantyhose
Control-top pantyhose (intended to create a slimmer form)
Sheer-to-waist pantyhose (designed for use with high-slit gowns, miniskirts, hot pants, or lingerie.)
Open-crotch pantyhose

Teddy
  • A teddy is a form of bodysuit-like lingerie, often worn in the boudoir. Unlike a bodysuit, it is typically looser and more sheer, and may be designed to slip off from the shoulders, rather than to open at the crotch. The teddy is normally worn for the seductive look, rather than practical reasons.

Teddy Nightie

  • A teddy is a short gown that falls just past the waist, high on the upper thigh. It can be made with a silky or sheer type of material. It usually comes with a matching pair of skimpy panties that you can wear with it.

Chemise

  • One of the most common gowns, it is a straight cut that falls just above the knee. It has thin, spaghetti-like straps that are sometimes adjustable. Most chemise are made with a silky type of material

Peignoir

  • A peignoir is a long gown with a length that reaches the ankles. These types of gowns usually come with a matching robe.
