What Is Photoshop?

Photoshop is an image editing program by Adobe. You can use it to create many things.
I will be showing you how to make a Banner.

Step 1

Open up a new document with whatever size you want, I like using 400x128.

Step 2

Using the color black, Put on some brushes to the canvas.
If you need help with brushes visit Brush Tutorial
Be sure not to use the same brush too many times, it makes it look bad.

Step 3

In the Layers Section, at the bottom of the application, there is a little half shaded circle.
Click that cirlce and a menu will appear.
When the menu appears click Color Balance.Play around with that until you get a color you like

For the sake of example I will use red as my background color.

Step 4

Now we must add a render.
You can find a render anywhere, and I recommend google images or Photobucket.
Copy the render, then open up photoshop, click edit at the top and click paste.
To move the render around click the arrow with the cursor in the left toolbar.
When you have found a desired location you can either stop or follow the optional step.
-------------------------Optional--------------------------------------------------
Under the layer where the image is pasted, you can click the opacity.
Changing the opacity makes the image less or more transparent.
This can be used for cool effects.

Step 5

So far we have our background and render, what else is this bad boy missing?
The answer to that is some text.
In the left toolbar click the letter "T".This will let you add text.
at the top of the application you can fool around with the font, size and color.
What I do for text is use the same color as the background.
After this I click Layers at the top. Under Layers I click Layer Styles, under layer styles click Blending Options
Then check off stroke and click it to change the settings.
I use a 2 pixel stroke with the color set to white, but this part is up to you.
After you select stroke click ok and magically your text has changed ;D.

Step 6

Now we have everything except for one thing. We need to add a border to the banner.
First Click one of the layers besides the background layer.
Press CTRL+E this will merge the layer with the background. Do this for all the layers.
Now in the left toolbar click the rectangle shape and select the whole banner.
Now right click inside the selected area and click stroke.
The stroke settings should come up.
You can use whatever you want, I use a black 1 pixel stroke.

Aftermath xD

Now that your banner is created you need to save and upload it.
Click file>save. Save as whatever type you want depending on what it is for
Now you need to upload it.
I would recommend Photobucket, but that requires you to open an account, so you can use imageshack or tinypic.
Once uploaded they will give you a bunch of links including: direct link,bb code link, and more. Once you have that link use it for whatever you made the banner for.
