NALC Area 3 Ladies Circle

Everthing you need to know about Circle

From one past it to another … and £80 towards a toilet!

It is now over 6 months since I handed over my chain and became a Past It. I can’t believe it – watch out Claire you will be writing this article before you know it!

On Sunday 25 th November our Area Chairman Claire joined me and 14 other Past Area Chairman for a wonderful Lunch at Bagden Hall.

As you can see from the photos the Past It’s in the room covered many years of circling and still continue to meet up in the spirit of continued friendship. The card I received a couple of days later says it all and thanks to Joan Peacock for takingtime to put pen to paper, here is what she said………

“Just a quick note to say a big thank you for organising & inviting me to the P.A.C Luncheon on Sunday. I am sure everyone thoroughly enjoyed being together & comparing our past experiences! It was nice to catch up on the present too especiallythe International side which I so enjoyed – as they say no time like the present &that is particularly true in your circling days.

Shirley Brown brought me back to Harrogate so I asked her to join me in Betty’s to have tea (toasted teacake and banana bread!) Yes!!! Even after that lovely lunch. We enjoyed the atmosphere and piano music leisurely until 7.30 – so ended the perfect day.

We all know the feeling of going out to lunch and it slowly turning dark! It is good to know that as we “mature” the urge to “carry on circling” is still strong, unfortunately in my case it would have been another G & T not toast & tea!

In addition to lunch we had a raffle on the day with all proceeds going to Project SARIS and this proved to be a great fund raiser as we made £81. The raffle prizes were all donated so thank you to those people who donated them. In addition the hotel did not charge us a room fee and all of us decided to donate that to SARIS as well because we had built this into the cost, another example of once a circler always a circler!

It just goes to show every even in the name of Ladies Circle even a past it lunch is about fun, friendship and fund raising. From one past it to I hope many more past it to follow thank you for the opportunity you all gave me to experience so much and to continue to do so. Here’s to many more Past Area Chairman Luncheon’s and thank you to everyone involved in making this “the perfect day out”.
