NALC Area 3 Ladies Circle

Everthing you need to know about Circle

National Council Meeting and AGM Report  Leeds 2008 -  by Sine Kidd Area Chair

On Friday 9th of May I went as an observer to the National Council meeting held at

the Queens Hotel in Leeds. The council meeting basically runs through the agenda

for the AGM and is when nominees for positions on National Exec are approved by

the council. The meeting was very informative and more importantly light hearted

and fun. Jo Machon was in her element with her flashing lights although she didn’t

really get much opportunity to use them. Michelle kept us all awake with her singing,

Mexican waves and chocolate!

Ladies Circle sales has now introduced a clothing line with many styles and colours

available and prices are very reasonable. A “Tour T-Shirt” has been introduced and it

is hoped that anyone attending LCI Aberdeen will wear one to the Welcome Party.

Check out the clothing line on www.ladies-circle.org.uk .

National have now introduced membership stands which are available for any

Circle to borrow. If you prefer they can be purchased for approx £135.

The Ladies Circle website is undergoing several updates and I encourage you to

access it as there is a lot of good information available to you. Certain information for

Circles and standard documents will only be available from the site so it is important

that you access this regularly. National will also be using The Pass magazine as a

way of distributing information as this is postage free. Please ensure you read this

magazine as there may be important Circle information within. They have also set up

a Ladies Circle forum for members to share ideas and have online discussions.

Follow the link from the website and register.

What came over to me most of all at this meeting was that National Exec are just like

everyone else, they have families, jobs and other commitments and Circle is a hobby

to them too. I never really appreciated the organisation and commitment that goes in

to organising an AGM on a National Scale but I know now that the time and effort put

in by Michelle and her team was immense. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the

AGM and was great to see so many Circlers from Area 3 supporting the event.

Congratulations must go to Martin Gunson and his Leeds 2008 Conference Team for

putting together a fantastic event. Well done to you all.

The Next National Council Meeting is on Saturday 27th September in Chorley
