Napoleonic armies in miniatures

Introduction

This website will show pictures of my 25-28mm miniatures Austrian and French army. I also intend to share useful informations on the Austrian army of the Napoleonic era, such as OOB's, uniform info, etc. I also plan to do the same later for the French and allied side. I chose to represent regiments instead of battalions, which allows each unit to have it's own facings, a fact that I really like about the Austrian army. Most miniatures are by Foundry, except for cannons and some line regiments by Sash & Saber.

Why begin with the Austrians? Well first of all, I always been fascinated by this Empire who played such a pivotal role in Europe for so long, yet is now so obviously forgotten by most. I am also a big fan of the Archduke Charles, the general of the Austrian Army of 1809, a sensible and intelligent man ahead of it's time. Finally, I just love the aesthetic of this army, with the endless sea of white line infantry, the green-clad Chevau-légers, the extravagant baby blue Hussars, and the general simple look of this force. Oh, and the fact that I always root for the underdog...

I do not pretend to be an expert painter, and I'll admit that my skills in photography are somewhat limited, but I do hope these pictures will spark interests in others about this magnificent era. It is not a lazy's person hobby, but it's well worth the time.
