-------------------------------------UPDATES-----------------------------------------

(site last updated July 19, 2008)

*I will be out of town this week: July 20- 26, so orders placed during that time won't be mailed until I get back.*

July 2008: Wow, it's been a beautiful, busy, summer so far, folks. I am currently having fun decorating people's packages with rubber stamps, so look out for some boats and owls in your mailbox if you order while I'm in this phase. New zines in stock here are: The Juniper #10, and Give Me Back #1. Plus, Arcade has a couple of copies of an old favorite called World Salad: Favoritos by Chad Hopper. If you happen to make an awesome zine or craft project, send it in! I'm looking to pick up some new stock now. -Lauren (arcadedistro@gmail.com

May 2008: Arcade Distro stickers with this ultra cute dinosaur drawing on them came in the mail this week, so I'll be enclosing one (maybe a few if you ask nicely) with each order. New zines in stock are: Eaves of Ass #6 and Free, Fer, Frim. Back in Stock: Night Terrors. Also, I added a wholesale page in case you're interested in ordering some of the zines that Arcade Distro carries in multiples of five. -Lauren (arcadedistro@gmail.com)

April 2008: New banner design thanks to Julia Fitzgerald! Back in stock: Avow #20, Give Me Back #2, Brainscan #22, and more. New stock: Clip Tart #2, Avow #22, and Give Me Back #3, and more. Tabling at West Fest in Houston on April 12th. If you want Arcade Distro monthly updates emailed to you, just type in your email address in the mailing list form at the bottom of this page. Keep sending in zines for consideration and stickers + fliers for your zine/ band/ distro if you want me to mail them out with orders. -Lauren (arcadedistro@gmail.com)

February 2008: I finally got the ads removed and paypal online ordering set up! Please be sure to look at the "ordering info" page before you click "proceed to checkout" if you use paypal. Also, a lot of new zines came in this month, along with some rad patches, postcards, and buttons. Check out the rest of Arcade Distro's February updates on the myspace blog or click on the zine pages to see for yourself. -Lauren (arcadedistro@gmail.com)

Arcade Distro Version 4.0

December 2007: This new website marks a fresh start for the Arcade Distro, which has seen several incarnations since it was started more than five years ago. Since it was passed down to me this summer, Arcade Distro has been tabled at local events and has a display with zines for sale at Sedition Books. The purpose of this website is to make the zines Arcade Distro carries accesible to people outside the Houston area. Thanks for visiting and don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. -Lauren (arcadedistro@gmail.com)

--------------------------------------ABOUT: ------------------------------------------

Who started the distro?

The distro was called "As The World Burns" before Arcade Distro, and it was run by 3 kids: Brea, Catherine, and Zane (Brea and Zane are brother and sister). They ran it first out of Marshall, Texas, and then Austin. It was passed down to a girl named Jessica around 2003. The former owners made her promise never to let the distro die. When I met Jessica while volunteering at Monkey Wrench Books in Austin, Arcade Distro had been on hiatus for over a year, so she was looking for someone to pass it on to. I offered to take over the distro when I moved back to Houston in 2007, so Jessica passed along the stock to me, on the condition that I made the same promise not to let it die.

Who runs the distro now?

Lauren is co- editor of Greasespot zine, a contributor to Razorcake magazine, works at an elementary school, and takes college classes.

What kind of zines are you interested in?

Oh man. Zines about biking, skating, cooking, traveling, working, and volunteering. Zines that make the reader want to get up and do something. Comic zines. Zines about putting anarchist theory into practice. Zines about what really got you into punk rock or why you dropped out of high school. Anti- homophobe, pro- sex, pro- choice, queer, and feminist zines. Arts and crafts, how- to, bicycle maintenance, and home repair zines. Animal liberation and earth liberation. Zines about what your hometown was like, your first big road trip, and what you want to be when you grow up. Zines with a lot of effort put into the layout, zines with silkscreened covers, and zines with pen and ink illustrations.

Will you carry my zine?

Obviously, Arcade is still a baby distro right now, so I can only accept very few new additions, but I'd love to read your zine and maybe I'll be able to carry it. (Especially if you can offer a good wholesale deal!) Usually, we'll pay you when a few of your zines have sold, or right away if you want to be paid with trade. Please don't bother submitting your zine if it's got anything racist, sexist or homophobic in it. I'm not interested in poetry or religion.

When sending your zine, please include the zine's wholesale price (usually pay 50% of what Arcade will sell it for) and anything else you think I should know about your project (like why you want Arcade Distro to carry your zine or a good review that someone else has written about your zine.) Don't forget to include your name, address, and email address too!

Zines that are sent to me for consideration that aren't used can't be returned to the sender. The zines might be given away to someone who I think might like it, recycled, or given away to zine library. Same goes for zines that I buy from you that don't sell. I would rather your zine be read by somebody that just sit around collecting dust. If you're not cool with not knowing where your zine could end up, don't send it in.
