Kwik Cricket Festival for Moira Shaw Trophy at Lochlands on Sun. 7^th September.

The early stages of the competition were played in rain which saw Dunfermline withdraw after the second round of games. The weather improved as the day progressed and the competition was completed with Arbroath United Lichties defeating Largo in an entertaining final. A vote of thanks was given by United President Neil Burnett and the trophies were presented by Richard Shaw on behalf of the sponsors Bob and Richard Shaw.

In the Inter club fun competition United travelled to Forfar last week and the result was

The sponsorship run riot has been moved from this Saturday (16^th) to the following Saturday (23^rd).

McDonald Trophy

The week-end spotlight fell on Sunday’s Kwick Cricket festival for the McDonald’s Trophy at Lochlands. Twelve teams, including two from United competed for the trophy and apart from a 25 minute stoppage for rain during the third series of games the matches were played in good overhead conditions. The tournament was won by Watsonians from Edinburgh who having tied with Lichties in a section match defeated the home side by 8 runs in a close final. A vote of thanks was given by Geoff Fisher from United while the sponsors McDonald’s representatives Brian Grant and Gary Poland provided certificates and goodie bags (fruit and water) to all the participating players together with certificates to four semi final players, player of the tournament and team award. The trophy was presented to Watsonians by United first eleven player, Mark Petrie.

As part of their preparation as Scotland’s representatives in the National Kwik Cricket Tournament the Ladyloan squad represented Arbroath United in the Inter Club fun competition against Strathmore last week.

Last Saturday’s game in the Inter Club fun competition against Meigle was postponed, while this week United travel to Forthill to play Forfarshire.

During the school holidays, Lochlands will be open on Tuesday’s for primary 4 and Thursday for primaries 5,6 and 7 for coaching and the times will provided to the youngsters at Saturday’s coaching session.

The Kwik Cricket John Cooper tournament which was scheduled for New Williamfield, Stirling is likely to take place during August but the date has still to be finalised.
